Job Description

The Mulligan Energetics research group is seeking a rising high school junior or senior to join the research group. The Mulligan Energetics Research group is a research team within the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department at Missouri S&T. The research focuses on ballistics and dynamic failure of materials. Successful applicants will get to be present during the testing opportunities.

The team is seeking a qualified person to assist with the fabrication and design work associated with the influx of research during the summer. This role is expected to work 20-30 hours per week throughout the summer. The position may extend into the school year depending on available funding and the individual's performance (at a reduced hours/week). Opportunities to learn and expand into the individual's research interests will be available.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with test setup
  • Cleaning and organizing the lab
  • 3D printing
  • Design work as needed
Shift

  • Summer 2025: 20-30 hrs/week
  • Fall 2025: 10-20 hrs/week
  • Spring 2026: 10-20 hrs/week
Minimum Qualifications

  • Interest in getting a degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Lives in the Rolla, Mo area (no relocation or housing assistance will be available with this position)
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $11.00 hourly.
