About the Job: The HCM Business Analyst Payroll plays a key role in managing and optimizing payroll systems in partnership with the payroll team within the organization's IT systems. This position ensures the accuracy and integrity of payroll processes by maintaining system functionality, troubleshooting technical issues, and facilitating smooth data flow. Individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and enhance payroll-related systems, contributing to the overall effectiveness of IT operations. What You'll Do:
- Serve as the primary configuration and systems maintenance owner for the Human Capital Management (HCM) system specific to Payroll and UKG Pro Workforce Management.
- Participate as a member of the core team in the HCM and UKG WFM digital transformation journey.
- Assists in implementation and integration of new payroll-related software or system enhancements. Works closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, project management, and the business, to ensure successful project delivery. Acts as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment and understanding of requirements.
- Develops and maintains business requirements documentation, including user stories, use cases, and functional and technical specifications.
- Responsible for designing, developing, testing and maintaining approved application changes to ensure defined and approved business requirements are met, data integrity is maintained and processes are efficient. Assist support personnel and business representatives in the development of test plans, training documentation and system documentation.
- Manage RICE, workflow, dashboards, and other development components as well as testing with offshore teams.
- Ensure data integrity and confidentiality within HCM and UKG WFM modules and integrations.
- Troubleshoots and resolves system errors, data mismatches, and technical issues.
- Analyze and document business processes, workflows, interfaces, reports and systems to identify areas for improvement or optimization. Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform business decisions. Provides recommendations and solutions to address business challenges and opportunities.
- Partner with the payroll team to identify opportunities for changes and enhancements as a part of continuous improvement.
- Work on assigned IS projects e.g., upgrades, new implementations and enhancements.
- Monitor and manage interfaces addressing issues in a timely manner.
- May generate custom reports and dashboards using SQL, Excel or other reporting tools.
- May assist in other HCM related projects and processes.
- Participate in mergers/acquisitions to ensure setup meet contractual obligations.
- Stays current on technology trends and payroll regulatory changes as well as industry trends and best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills You'll Need:
- Bachelor Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field.
- 3+ years' experience in supporting business users with the design, development, testing and implementation of software applications in the field of HR, Kronos WFM and Payroll. Candidates are required to have skills supporting users and problem solving specifically on ERP (Oracle eBS, Fusion Cloud, PeopleSoft) systems.
- The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in HR and Benefits and act as a functional expert working with HCM systems such a Peoplesoft HCM and/or Oracle HCM Cloud. Previous experience with system implementation, business process testing and change management is a plus.
- Experience with designing business solutions and supporting end users in the area of HCM and UKG WFM business applications with expertise in Payroll.
- Experience in preparing and delivering workshops and engaging with business stakeholders in requirements gathering and business process mapping.
- Knowledge of HCM (HR, Payroll, and Benefits) and UKG WFM business processes.
- Strong understanding of labor laws, and compliance standards (e.g., FLSA, ACA, GDPR, HIPAA).
- Complex problem-solving skills including defining the root of the problem, creating and evaluating alternative solutions, testing preferred solutions, assessing and re-testing as necessary.
- Ability to translate business questions into problems solving using software solutions.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under strict deadlines.
- Create ad-hoc query and respond to report requests as needed for research and troubleshooting.
- Experience in documenting, coordinating development, testing and implementation of new or redesigned system functionality and reporting.
- Develop and maintain payroll related procedure and training documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management, including executive and senior management teams.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in high volume workload situations.
