Fort Lauderdale Hotel Opening in Fall 2025, Omni Fort Lauderdale will provide South Florida with 120,000 square feet of event space, new food and beverage options, a Natural Spring inspired full-service spa and entertainment pedestrian plaza featuring high-end shopping, amphitheater, charter boat docking and beautiful promenade. The new iconic landmark offers unforgettable views of the Atlantic paired with unrivalled convenience and intelligently designed meeting spaces. The hotel will be directly connected to the Broward County Convention Center, immediately adjacent to Port Everglades cruise terminal and less than two miles from Fort Lauderdale Airport.
Job Description
Be a part of the pre-opening team for the Omni Ft. Lauderdale Hotel! Opening Fall 2025, the Omni Ft. Lauderdale Hotel is a 29-story hotel, located at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd, and connected directly to the Broward County Convention. The property offers 801 guest rooms and suites, multiple restaurants, a vibrant rooftop bar, a sprawling pool, spa, and fitness center. The hotel will also have over 120,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom, junior ballroom, 25 breakout rooms and pre-function meeting space with waterfront views. To provide technical and administrative assistance to the Director of Engineering. Assist the Director of Engineering in the operational aspect of the Engineering Department.
Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Engineering in implementing preventative maintenance programs, repairs, projects, and capital improvements. Including keeping logs and records on completed work, scheduling and assigning projects and other related tasks.
- Assist the Director of Engineering in the procurement of supplies, establishing partnership with outside vendors and service providers and issuing purchase orders.
- Review work orders and assign tasks by priorities.
- Maintain up-to-date inventories of parts, supplies, materials, and tools.
- Lead and manage Engineering staff, coordinate their activities.
- Assume the responsibility for the daily operation of Engineering Department in the absence of the Director of Engineering.
- Must be able to operate fire pump and an emergency generator.
- Must be familiar with Omni's engineering operating systems. Training will be provided upon hire.
- Administer, assign, and update status of PM program for all mechanical equipment, laundry, kitchens, boilers, refrigeration, pool equipment and HVAC.
- Administer, assign, and update status of PM program for guestrooms. (PRP and CARE).
- Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications.
- Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure clean uniform and professional personal appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
- Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost-savings.
Qualifications
- Degree in building maintenance, construction, engineering, mechanics, or related field is preferred not required.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the leading and managing engineering Team.
- Certification in HVAC, electrical or plumbing. Must obtain CPO and OSHA certifications upon hire.
- Knowledgeable about pool/spa equipment including pumps, heaters, steamers, and filtration systems.
- Knowledgeable in ADA requirements, power, water and sewer distribution, blueprints, fire codes and fire protection/suppression systems.
- Demonstrates excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills
- Move, bend, crawl, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects of moderate to heavy weight without assistance. Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
- Safely climb ladders while carrying moderate to heavy weight. Wear personal protective equipment when required.
