The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Library & Informatics Center (HSLIC) is looking for an enthusiastic and service driven Education and Clinical Engagement Librarian to empower students, faculty, and clinicians with the knowledge they need to transform healthcare.

The Education and Clinical Engagement Librarian is a member of the Research, Education, and Clinical Information Services (RECIS) team within the Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center (HSLIC) and reports to the Division Head of RECIS. This position requires flexibility and adaptability as the needs of the library and information needs of library users expand and change.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible faculty position with a primary appointment in HSLIC. UNM provides a diversified package of benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Appointment is posted as open rank, to be determined based on qualifications. Salary range: $76,267.00 - $80,281.05.

What You'll Do:



  • Instruction & Research Support
  • Craft engaging, tailored workshops and instructional materials for diverse learners across the HSC.
  • Provide expert one-on-one research consultations and support and collaborate on systematic, scoping, and evidence synthesis projects.
  • Develop LibGuides and self-directed learning modules to promote independent research skills.


Clinical Support & Engagement



  • Collaborate with clinicians, residents, nurses, and allied health staff to deliver information for complex patient care and research.
  • Lead sessions on leveraging biomedical databases and tools to enhance evidence-based practice.


Professional Development & Scholarship



  • Engages in research, publishes, and presents in the field of health sciences librarianship.
  • Stay up to date on emerging trends in health informatics, instructional design, and clinical engagement.
  • Actively participate in university and professional service that promotes personal and institutional growth.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum:

  1. A master's degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association (or foreign equivalent) or a relevant advanced degree; such as education, instructional design, informatics or health sciences.
  2. Experience providing instruction in an academic health science or library setting or related environment.
  3. Evidence of a strong commitment to service in a user-centered environment.
  4. Applicant must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred:

  • Experience providing individual and group instruction, both virtually and in-person on a variety of library related topics.
  • Experience in developing and executing advanced search strategies in a variety of biomedical databases.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to create and deliver engaging active learning sessions and communicate effectively with a wide variety of learners.
  • Experience developing online research guides and instructional materials using platforms such as LibGuides.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty, researchers, and clinicians to integrate information skills into curricula and into clinical workflows.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
