The BNSF RailwayEngineering Departmentis responsible for designing, constructing, and maintaining the infrastructure of our extensive rail network. This crucial role involves applying advanced engineering principles to address complex challenges, ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations. This is a full-timeposition located in Kansas City, KS.

Travel isrequired approximately 40-50%.

Key responsibilities may include:

Position reports to Engineer Signals III- Detectors

Coordinate, administer, and reviewthe estimating and design activities of signal detector system projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and meet the requirements of our customers. Detection systems include Hot Bearing, Hot Wheel, and Dragging Equipment, among others.

Review, create, and analyze project layouts, field surveys, and requests to ensure compliance with BNSF standards.

Keep departmental project tracking and schedulingdatabases up to date for assigned projects.

Provide guidance on circuitry and programming to field maintenance, construction crews, and engineering staff.

Review vendor invoicesfor services rendered and prepare requests for payment against the appropriate projects.

Relocation assistance may be offered based on business needs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Computer skills: requires proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Must have analytical ability, be innovative and resourceful, and communicate accurately on technical subjects.
  • Must be able to work effectively and efficiently with all levels of BNSF management and personnel as a team dedicated to fulfilling corporate goals.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
