Job Summary

The Rock Island Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for branch operations and will oversee the teller area. This position is also responsible for prompt and efficient bank transactions through the selection, training, and development of branch personnel.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Provide leadership to assigned branch, overseeing retail activities and banking systems.
  • Assist retail staff by reviewing, coaching, and approving or denying monetary and account transactions.
  • Maintain sufficient, skilled bank staff by scheduling appropriate employees and providing ongoing coaching and cross-training opportunities.
  • Work with the Lead Universal Banker and RI Market Manager to organize the daily workflow of the branch. Provide daily supervision and assistance to employees in order to maintain quality staffing and high customer service levels.
  • Collaborate with the RI Market Manager to conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
  • Oversee the Rock Island Market branch audits of internal control systems and procedures.
  • Know, understand, follow, and be able to explain/teach all policies, procedures, and regulations related to retail transactions.
  • Actively solicit and open new accounts and products while cross-promoting lending services.
  • Balance cash drawer daily according to established procedures and report any teller cash differences immediately to direct supervisor.
  • Oversee proper balancing procedures are followed for cash drawers and vaults.
  • Maintain IRA and HSA product knowledge, open IRA and HSA accounts, and act as a retail contact person regarding IRA and HSA accounts.
  • Update customer and account information on computer and complete the paperwork related to the change.
  • Maintain the teller area to ensure the safety of all negotiables and confidential records.
  • Demonstrate a helpful, friendly, and team-player attitude.
  • Follow established protocol including robbery/hold-up procedures.
  • Ensure the Bank's Core Values are upheld by maintaining a cohesive and positive working environment.
  • Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities



  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough understanding of customer service and bank products/services.
  • Ability to remain friendly and calm in stressful situations.
  • Above average knowledge of fundamental mathematics.
  • Ability to be trustworthy and act with integrity.
  • Ability to travel between Rock Island branches as necessary.
  • Excellent leadership, management, and conflict resolution skills.


Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications



  • High school diploma or recognized equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • 1+ years of retail sales and/or banking experience.
  • 1+ years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Bi-lingual preferred.


Equipment/Software



  • Ability to operate general office equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
