Boston Government Services, LLC. (BGS) is seeking an Azure Engineer to support developing and implementing Information Technology (IT) initiatives in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining information technology environments including cloud and on-premises infrastructures, disaster recovery, network, and performance. Accountable for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and security of computer related services by leveraging the latest technologies and services, technical leadership, and project management.
  • Architects, implements, and administers cloud-based technologies, virtual servers, applications, and virtual networking devices.
  • Monitor, manage and maintain day to day activities of Azure environments, respond and address system alerts, notifications.
  • Assist with resource provisioning, migration, configurations in Azure.
  • Manage cloud networking and security (Firewalls, Network Security Groups (NSGs), Application Security Group (ASGs) and monitor the logging of systems.
  • Supports the cybersecurity team in the implementation of security measures to protect computer systems, networks, and data. Stays up to date on the latest technology and intelligence, including hackers' methodologies.
  • Supports the installation and configuration of network equipment on local and wide area. (Switches, routers, wireless, firewalls, etc.)
  • Monitors performance of the network and makes modifications to provide optimal performance.
  • Responsible for preventing data loss and service interruptions by utilizing technologies that will effectively protect the network.
  • Supports server and storage availability and uptime across BGS networks.
  • Installs and supports specialized engineering applications.
  • Leads implementation of server and storage upgrades, replacements, and enhancements.
  • Monitors, manages, maintains, and troubleshoots a mixed platform environment.
  • Manages cloud and on premises collaboration and productivity platforms.
  • Manages the Microsoft O365 Tenant configuration and tuning.
  • Addresses security vulnerabilities promptly.
  • Maintains system documentation - configuration specifications, versions of software, licenses, diagrams of network connections, hardware asset information, etc.
  • Creates, tests, and implements network disaster recovery plans.
  • Performs risk assessments and tests data processing systems.
  • Recommends security enhancements and purchases.
  • Manages and/or provides guidance to junior members of the IT staff.
  • Participates in and leads application and/or database deployment projects.
  • Assists in long-term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling efficient and cost-effective information processing and communication technologies.
  • Benchmarks, analyzes, reports on, and makes recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Assists the IT Director with defining and articulating IT requirements for each functional area including systems integration, workflow processes, and business solutions.
  • Ensures the integrity, reliability and security of corporate information processing systems, including financial systems, electronic mail system, local and wide area networks, individual workstations, and any additional departmental systems.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, or similar field of study, from an accredited institution.
  • 10 years of IT Systems Admin and Cloud/Networking experience, or a combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Must be US citizen OR Must be authorized to work in the US with our without sponsorship.
  • Successful drug screening.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Palo Alto and Ubiquiti technology.
  • Proficiency using PowerShell and other scripting languages.
  • Deep understanding and working knowledge of primary Azure services (Virtual Machines, Active Directory, Automation, Monitor, Log Analytics).
  • Experience managing a hybrid environment.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Windows desktop/laptop computers and software applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the relationship/interactions of the hardware operating, software operating, network and application programs.
  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development.
  • Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
  • Knowledge of method and approach for implementing enterprise-level applications.
  • Superior understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with and provide an interface between company-wide management and staff, software vendors, contract service providers, and hardware maintenance personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems.
  • Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Location/Work Arrangement:

  • This position is located in Oak Ridge, TN and is a Hybrid Work Arrangement.
