Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner cares for patients receiving treatment for breast cancer. The NP provides clinical guidance for patients receiving systemic therapy for breast cancer including management of treatment toxicities, management of oncologic emergencies, symptom management, care coordination, assistance with triage, and other duties as assigned.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $100.48 - $130.31 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications

Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing recognized Nurse Practitioner Program with a master's or doctoral degree aligned with the patient population and clinical role.

  • Minimum one (1) plus years of recent medical oncology experience as a nurse practitioner specializing in general medical oncology and/or breast medical oncology

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience working with clinical trial patients
  • Graduate of an APP fellowship program
  • Experience working in a large academic medical center
  • AOCNP certification
  • Knowledge in various chemotherapy regimens and its systemic complications for the treatment of breast cancer

License/Certification


  • California driver's license (CDL) if required for position.
  • Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.

  • Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
  • Complete a BRN recognized graduate master's degree program as a nurse practitioner.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
    Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
  • Current AHA BLS.
  • State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice
  • Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.


UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
