Overall responsibility for the campus wide foodservice operations. Ensures customer satisfaction, execution of daily operations and campus events. Implements and manages retail programs to ensure compliance with St. Jude Children's Hospital foodservice standards. Ensures sanitary regulations and optimal levels of quality service. Hires, trains, mentors and empowers supervisors and staff to achieve optimal performance. Collaborates with leadership, customers, and staff to deliver outstanding service levels and guest experience. Ensures proper financial controls are in place to manage costs, revenues, and retail sales mix. Maintains all required records and reports, including billing.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plans and supervises special functions, maintains cash controls, and oversees the hiring and training of our hourly team members. Directs staff to provide scheduled retail services in accordance with policies, regulatory agencies, and presentation standards. Completes all daily, weekly or monthly reports as required and on a timely basis meeting all prescribed deadlines. Communicates effectively with all team members, staff, patients and families. Manages the day-to-day food service operation. Develops and maintains accurate schedules and payroll records for areas of responsibility. Provides mandatory training in-service sessions. Communicates with customers to schedule, plan, and execute catering events. Markets merchandise and assists with planograms and reviews marketing standards. Collaborates with Purchasing / Food Service Leadership to determine sales mix, new item launches, and other retail product enhancements.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction and good public relations through the safe and efficient uses of resources. Trains staff in customer service, proper portioning, cashier skills, and safety/sanitation. Ensures staff achieves all customer satisfaction goals. Ensures all customers receive the highest quality product and customer service possible. Maintains consistent speed of service to the customer by ensuring all staffing requirements are met. Interacts frequently with patients, families, staff, and all other customers to determine satisfaction level and provides service recovery, if necessary.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures as evidenced through local health department and third-party audits. Follows institution and departmental infection control and safety procedures. Follows all Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines.
  • Implements and maintains cash handling standards. Implements St. Jude retail pricing strategy, makes changes and adjustments as required, and monitors quarterly or more frequently in necessary. Provide insightful information and expectations management team to aid in decision making. Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the department and institution.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Hotel /Restaurant Management, Business or related field or equivalent work experience preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Five (5) years progressively responsible food service experience, with at least two (2) of these years of management experience.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:

  • (SERVSAFMGR) ServSafe Food Protection Manager or another American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approved Food Protection Manager Certification required within 3 months of hire.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $60,320 - $105,040 per year for the role of Mgr-Food Services.
