JOB SUMMARY
UT Southwestern Medical Center is the preeminent medical institution in North Texas and has been named the top hospital eight (8) years in a row as well as one of the leading medical facilities nationwide. We have a leadership position available within our Revenue Cycle team for an Assistant Director, Eligibility / Registration - Hospital & Professional Billing.
* The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Revenue Cycle leaders, academic department operational teams, UTSW's Institutional Compliance, as well as be the primary liaison to our partner hospital's (Parkland, CMC, JPS, and THD) eligibility and registration processes.
* Will oversee two direct reports and a team of approximately eighty staff.
* Experience in healthcare insurance coverage structures and functionality with multiple years of successfully leading matrixed teams is required.
* Demonstrated ability to drive multiple initiatives simultaneously, while continuing to foster a culture where remote team members thrive.
* Hospital and Professional billing registration and eligibility leadership experience required.
* Epic experience essential.
Shift: 8-hour days, flex shift - start from 0600-0900.
Work From Home (WFH): The successful candidate can work from home or hybrid WFH and office. The preferred candidate resides in the DFW metroplex. Applicants must live in Texas.

JOB DUTIES
- Oversee and streamline eligibility denials workflows and/or medical surgical follow-up processes.
- Develop no-response specific and medical/surgical general follow-up functions and processes to ensure maximum workflow and productivity, communicating deficiencies as well as best practices to operations management.
- Monitor work queue aging and manage to meet MSRDP guidelines.
- Monitor denials management and determine corrective action plans.
- Supervise managers to ensure appropriate management and oversite of staff on a daily basis. Role includes hiring, engagement, retention, schedule, monitoring productivity standards, departmental training, approving time off, processing payroll, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and exit paperwork.
- Assist the accounting department by approving all departmental bills for accounts payable and keep comprehensive records.
- Review denial and claims data on a regular basis to ensure accountability and follow-up.
- Work collaboratively with Director and Assistant Director of Medical and Ancillary follow-up to establish and implement appropriate billing procedures, and procedures for follow-up on third-party approvals and collection of overdue patient accounts. Oversee denied, rejected and appealed claims to ensure proper follow-up and resubmission, if needed.
- Review and post weekly metrics for supervised staff to determine when operational goals are met.
- Communicate with leadership any trends/issues identified. Collaborate with contracting to resolve payor specific denial issues.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining data collection and issue reporting including but not limited to routine and special requests for department, management, administration and corporate offices within required timeframes.
- Serve as a resource to peers, staff and others, team leader, trainer as required, provides education, develops step actions, standards of performance and monitors and reinforces.
- Direct, monitor, assign, and evaluate workflows and processes in assigned areas. Work with other departments to ensure seamless process flow and offer suggestions when a workflow needs to be corrected or changed.
- Assist in developing the Revenue Cycle Departments budget and provides fiscal direction to the unit.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
