The Role

Joining Balfour Beatty as MEP Superintendent you will be expected to lead and coordinate all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) aspects of large scale, complex commercial construction projects. You will have extensive field experience in complex MEP systems and will ensure projects are completed with quality, profitability, and adhering to our Safety/Zero Harm culture.

Essential Functions



  • MEP Coordination: Oversee the installation, replacement, integration, and commissioning of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems on detention center projects.
  • Field Leadership: Direct daily work of MEP subcontractors, ensuring quality, safety, and schedule adherence; resolve field conflicts and coordinate inspections.
  • Schedule Management: Develop and maintain detailed MEP schedules; align MEP milestones with overall construction timelines and coordinate with other trades to avoid delays.
  • Quality Control: Enforce strict compliance with contract documents, drawings, and specifications; ensure MEP systems are installed per design and applicable codes.
  • Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce safety protocols on-site; work with safety teams to conduct inspections and ensure MEP work meets OSHA standards.
  • Inspections & Testing: Coordinate with third-party inspectors, commissioning agents, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) for successful testing, inspections, and turnover.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate daily reports, track inspections and deficiencies, and support project documentation including as-builts and O&M manuals



What you will need



  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in MEP construction supervision with proven experience in commercial construction field leadership.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working on a variety of complex commercial construction projects including detention center and secure facility projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of MEP systems, scheduling construction sequencing, and coordination techniques as well as staff and subcontractor management.
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, submittals, and specifications.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience with project manager software (Constructware, P6, Timberline, etc.).
