Description
Summary:
Works with leadership and front line co-workers to improve departmental quality/safety. Coordinates quality programs for the Emergency Department including follow up on labs/imaging; data collection for core measures; departmental quality projects; EMS registry. Presents data for educational purposes. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop an ED quality program encompassing core measures, daily operations, documentation, follow up on labs/imaging
2. Maintains the CARE registry for EMS
3. Assist department in meeting regulatory and accreditation standards
4. Ensure ongoing leadership and front line participation and evaluation of quality information.
5. Advocate change when needed to maintain excellence
6. Build relationships with departmental leadership, front line co-workers and hospital project staff to enhance quality improvement initiatives
7. Collect, review and evaluate data to determine accuracy of data collected. Recommend changes to systems and process to ensure timeliness, accuracy and efficiency in patient care
8. Provide regular reporting to leadership

Education Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree (BSN, BS, BA) preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* RN NC LIC
Professional Experience Requirements:
* Three years of emergency or critical care nursing experience Previous experience in performance improvement projects preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
* Language Skills: Ability to make presentations as needed. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to work with clinical staff. Ability to make effective presentations during campaigns. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Experience with clinical data collection and outcomes. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
