Position Title:Business Intelligence Developer III Department:IT Care Delivery Applications Job Description: This position may be performed remotely from the following locations within the United States of America: Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

The Business Intelligence Developer III is responsible for the strategic design and implementation of highly complex report libraries and universes used by all departments within the enterprise. The BID III creates analytics assets based upon input from end-user, junior Business Intelligence colleagues, and company leadership to enhance business decision making capabilities. The BID III will develop and enhance the underlying data models including a data warehouse or multi-dimensional system. They are skillful in aggregating large data from multiple systems and sources into an efficient data solution. Provides leadership and mentoring to BI team and end users.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Architects and optimizes custom SQL metrics and reporting solutions.
  • Proactively identifies and solutions enhancing performance and ensuring scalability across databases (such as Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle)
  • Strategizes with senior subject matter experts on opportunities to execute data ingress of external data sources to the organization's central data warehouse
  • Strategizes approaches to minimize technical debt accumulation
  • Leads configuration and testing of complex EHR (such as Epic)-released and Foundation System content for applications (such as Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer data models, Radar dashboards, and Cogito SQL), ensuring high-quality analytics outputs
  • Designs and creates moderate-to-complex custom content to display EHR (such as Epic) data from databases (such as Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle) in organizationally designated tools (such as EHR, Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Provides guidance to peers on design and development of content creation and configuration
  • Strategically distributes advanced analytics content, ensuring it meets the nuanced needs of all data consumers, basic through advanced
  • Conducts comprehensive peer reviews of analytics assets to ensure data validity and integrity
  • Performs complex peer review of code (such as SQL, DAX)
  • Designs educational materials or methodologies for data delivery tools
  • Mentors colleagues on delivery of education to end users
  • Collaborate with other senior subject matter experts to deeply understand complex data consumer requirements and design innovative analytics solutions that drive business value
  • Leads projects with appropriate interdepartmental support
  • Proactively addresses customer business needs, anticipating problems/needs before they occur
  • Provides mentoring to peers on professionalism, business requirements, and communication in stakeholder relations
  • Develop and execute rigorous testing protocols for analytics builds, including advanced volume testing in live environments
  • Strategizes implementation of new database (such as Clarity and Caboodle) features from upgrade documentation
  • Designs methodology for data catalog and metadata maintenance
  • Develops and maintains strong operations relationships
  • Assist the Manager in shaping the direction of the team in day-to-day work and coordinating needs for projects

General Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Educations Requirements: Bachelor's Degree required.

Experience Requirements:

  • 5 or more years of experience in analytics (Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, Data Science, etc.) including mastery of SQL

  • Healthcare IT experience preferred in analyzing, programming, designing, testing, and/or implementing computer-based systems.

  • Prior experience working with an accounts receivable system or prior experience working with an EMR system is preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s)/ Accreditation(s)/Registration(s) Required within six months of hire or within three months of class completion:

  • Cogito Fundamentals

  • Cogito Tools Administration

  • Clarity Data Model

  • Caboodle Data Model

  • Access, Clinical, and/or Revenue Data Model(s)

For preferred items below, OU Health may require incumbents to complete additional trainings, including those noted below, as part of their job requirements. Accreditation(s)/Certification(s)/License(s)/Registration(s), as appropriate, will be required no more than three months after course completion.

  • Data Visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)

  • Additional Accreditation(s)/Certification(s)/License(s)/Registration(s) as requested to support evolving businesses needs

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:

  • Mastery of communication, both orally and in writing, with all business partners across the enterprise including effectiveness representing and/or lead as department expert in settings such as executive presentations, workgroups, and committee meetings.

  • Expert in translating all most complex customer requests or stated needs into meaningful business requirements. Mentors junior level developers in this effort.

  • Guides and advises the development of designing and implementing workflow processes and standards for the team.

  • Demonstrated excellence of critical thinking and analytical mindset with most advanced ability to interface with business partners across enterprise in synthesizing problems and generation of logical, solutions-focused responses. Mentors junior level developers by advising on their work product development.

  • Advanced SQL developer with and proficiency using related BI tools (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server and associated tools).

  • Leads junior level developers in peer review of their code and tool development, advising on development of their work products.

  • Expert ability to design, build, and maintain data analysis tools, translate raw data into actionable insights for business. Advises use of analytics assets (e.g. metrics, dashboards, reports, self-service analysis tools, etc.), both of industry standard analytics tools and those inline of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) such as Epic, both for enterprise use. Mentors and advises junior level developers in the same.

  • Expert understanding of relational database concepts, creating data structures, and data modeling. In depth experience in constructing SQL stored procedures, views, and functions, including performance tuning, indexing and design patterns.

  • Expert understanding of using and/or rapidly assimilating knowledge of various third-party tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, etc.), demonstrates expert skill navigating complex relationships across multiple departments and businesses, and advises junior level developers.

  • Solves the most complex problems and understands how to solve for both individual customer and organizational business needs efficiently.

  • Advanced understanding of healthcare business process and technology preferred.

  • Advanced understanding of clinical workflows and terminology preferred.

  • Prior experience working with an EHR and/or accounts receivable system is preferred.

  • Ability to effectively work independently and within teams.

  • Intermediate knowledge of IT solutions and interfacing preferred.

  • Must be able to drive personal vehicle to assigned sites to complete work.

  • Must be able to travel in state and out of state on occasion.
