Job Summary

Assists in the creation, implementation, and monitoring of strategic marketing campaigns via social media to generate greater awareness of the FIU Athletics brand. Stays up to date with current industry trends and can create content that is both informative and engaging.

  • Assists with objectives for social media profiles, establishes effective benchmarks for measuring impact of social media programs, and creates a content strategy and schedule.
  • Provides supervision, training, and support to student staff where appropriate.
  • Tell the story of FIU Athletics, promoting student-athletes, coaches, staff and teams through video and photo content for social media, website (FIUSports.com) and other digital-based platforms.
  • Identifies opportunities and strategies for social media trends; film and edit content to drive engagement on those accounts. new social media profiles and initiatives.
  • Film and edit videos and photos for use on in-stadium video boards, live broadcasts (ESPN+), fulfillment of sponsor contracts and other marketing and promotional usages.
  • Adheres to all State of Florida, University, NCAA, Conference USA and department rules and policies pertaining to the position of Social Media Specialist. Reports any known NCAA violations or concerns to the Director of Athletic Compliance and be responsible for the monitoring of any subordinate as it relates to NCAA regulations.
  • Ensures consistent, accurate representation of the FIU Athletics and University brand.
  • Collaborates with the Division of Strategic Communications, Government and External Affairs.
  • Curates content to distribute via social media and deliver to student-athletes and coaches.
  • Assists in the development of a year-round content calendar.
  • Shoots and edits photos and video of practices, games and other athletics events, track and apply social media analytics to ensure quality content strategies.
  • Organize, manage and archive photo and video content.
  • Stays up to date on the latest social media trends and state-of the art technology, such as new algorithms, features and platforms.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field and one (1) year of experience working with social media in a communications, marketing, or public relations setting.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Premiere, Final Cut or other video-editing software.
  • Experience with DSLR video operations.
  • Experience with After Effects, Photoshop, LightRoom.
