OVERVIEW:

The Director of Housing will give leadership to the overall program of Emmanuel House to include but not limited to: provide community relations, manage the budget and finances, enforce policies and procedures, certification/licensing compliance, direct oversight of housing staff, develop fundraising sources, ensure all program aspects are enacted, liaison with neighborhood, work with community partners, and work with other department heads. This position will also be familiar with community referral resources.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Keep up to date with community resources and partnership opportunities
  • Liaison with neighbors to ensure goodwill and resolve neighbor issues with clients
  • Manage oversight of program budget and ensure expenditures are within budget
  • Secure outside funding sources for program
  • Ensure Emmanuel House Program Policies and Procedures are up to date
  • Ensure Emmanuel House Program Manual is current
  • Adhere to all certifications and licenses while guaranteeing that they are all current
  • Oversee the Emmanuel House Program staff and fill in when necessasry
  • Ensure that all necessary reports on activities, including case files, office records, statistics, NSS reports, donor records and other reports as required are complete and timely
  • Interact with other Salvation Army programs and collaborate with other organizations to help our clients be successful
  • Ensure intake interviews, which include an initial needs assessment and address critical needs appropriately and immediately, are completed
  • Ensure client orientation to program, requirements, and procedures takes place
  • Work in collaboration with the Emmanuel House staff to evaluate possible courses of action regarding client status but can also make decisions independently
  • Consult and cooperate with community systems to facilitate linkages, referrals, crisis management, advocacy, and follow-up, focusing on achieving goals specific to respite services, work readiness, and housing readiness
  • Empower clients to become involved in the case planning and goal setting
  • Intervene and manage/de-escalate crisis with effective conflict resolution skills
  • Manage maintenance and updates of confidential client files to ensure conversations, warnings, progress towards goals, and documentation of any incidents are included
  • Teach classes as needed
  • Report critical incidents immediately to the Director of Social Services
  • Collect data necessary to meet funding requirements and statistical reports
  • Work in collaboration with program and all other staff to facilitate a team environment
  • Lead staff meetings and facilitate discussions
  • Model effective team behaviors
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills in building relationships with all employees and clients
  • Create good working relationships with local agency administrators and other area service providers and support groups
  • Treat all clients, visitors, and employees with care, kindness, respect, and dignity
  • Adhere to The Salvation Army policies, procedures, code of conduct, and attendance rules
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all information
  • Adhere to the policies in the use of computer technology and all telecommunication devices
  • Participate in major Silicon Valley events
  • Perform other duties as assigned


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Experience with life skills (required)
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • Experience in related field (5 years preferred)
  • Experience working with the homeless, economically disadvantaged, mentally ill, and chemically dependent
  • Experience working from a strength-based, client centered, trauma-informed perspective


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
  • Ability to plan & implement life skills programming
  • Be a continuous learner and collector of resources in the following areas: financial literacy/budgeting, health, nutrition, public transportation, city resources, accessing benefits, practical life skills, interpersonal, social, and work communication and behavior, job readiness, job search, and resume, interviewing, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes)
