Job Summary

Tech AI is excited to announce an opening for a research faculty position to conduct application-driven research in artificial intelligence. We are looking for candidates who have a strong background in artificial intelligence and machine learning, or in one of the many application areas of Tech AI. These areas include artificial intelligence for energy, supply chains, health care, agriculture, entertainment, security, and education. Our interdisciplinary projects offer the opportunity to work with experts from various fields and to deploy state-of-the-art research in real life. This position shall work directly with the Tech AI Director to manage part of the research enterprise. They will have opportunities to develop leadership skills and will be involved in a variety of research projects. This position requires prior leadership experience or research/industry experience.

Responsibilities

As a Research Faculty member at Tech AI, you will:

  • Contribute to research projects that focus on responsible AI for societal impact in a wide range of application areas.
  • Collaborate with world-leading experts in AI.
  • Address real-world problems with real data from practitioners.
  • Supervise students and manage projects with industry partners.
Required Qualifications

This position vacancy is an open rank announcement. Final job offer will be dependent on candidate qualifications in alignment with Research Faculty ranks as outlined in section 3.2.1 of the Georgia Tech Faculty Handbook (https://www.policylibrary.gatech.edu/faculty-handbook/3.2.1-research-faculty-hiring-and-promotion-guidelines)

Final rank will be determined commensurate with education and experience.

Research Scientist II

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field, including (but not limited to) AI/ML, computer science, industrial/electrical/environmental engineering, and operations research and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master's degree in a relevant field, including (but not limited to) AI/ML, computer science, industrial/electrical/environmental engineering, and operations research and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in a relevant field, including (but not limited to) AI/ML, computer science, industrial/electrical/environmental engineering, and operations research.

Senior Research Scientist

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field, including (but not limited to) AI/ML, computer science, industrial/electrical/environmental engineering, and operations research and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master's degree in a relevant field, including (but not limited to) AI/ML, computer science, industrial/electrical/environmental engineering, and operations research and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in a relevant field, including (but not limited to) AI/ML, computer science, industrial/electrical/environmental engineering, and operations research and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications

  1. Publications in top AI/ML conferences or domain-specific venues.
  2. Strong Python, Julia, or C++/C#/Java coding skills.
  3. Leadership experience or research industry experience Successful completion of one research project in collaboration with industry
  4. Experience teaching or supervising students and projects
  5. Using and/or programming in the following software technologies: Software coding tools: Visual Studio Code and Git
  • Deep-learning frameworks: PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras
  • Generative AI tools: ChatGPT, Gemini, Llama
  • Optimization libraries: Gurobi, CPLEX, Xpress, OPL, OR-Tools
  • High-Performance Computing: Linux, AWS, Slurm, MPI, CUDA
