Job Description

This position will advise undergraduate students in the College of Health Sciences on course schedules, academic planning, academic and college success strategies, and applying to a wide range of clinical health care programs. In addition, this position will teach a one-hour career development seminar course and may teach leadership or college student/academic success courses.

Job Responsibilities

  • Advising:
    • Advising Students, supporting faculty with advising issues, maintaining records/files for students.
    • Stay updated and current on advising issues by attending campus-wide meetings.
    • Assist faculty in departments with admissions questions and administrative issues related to advising.
    • Advise and assist faculty with online and distance education students.
    • Advise and assist department with other projects and services related to student success and retention.
  • Recruitment and Retention:
    • Meet with prospective students, particularly transfer students.
    • Assist with creation and maintenance of resources and guides related academic unit programs that will aid in student recruitment and transferability.
    • Programming with focus on retention and student engagement, including significant interaction and utilization of university early-alert systems.
  • Records Maintenance:
    • Manage student files according to standard.
    • Help students find and utilize appropriate information/systems to aid in navigating campus policies and procedures.
    • Update student files in MU Connect, myZou, and other applicable university systems.
    • Check for completion of graduation requirements for student population.
    • Assist department in executing other student records processes.
  • Instruction:
    • Teach one-hour credit course for health-sciences majors (Health Sci 3000).
  • Other:
    • Job development and other duties not otherwise specified.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $38,480 - $54,787
