JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

ASSISTANT DISTRICT MANAGER

Department of Family and Support Services

Number of Positions: 1

(additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)

Starting Salary: $67,656.00

POSITION OVERVIEW: Assist in managing programs and services at a community service center, including supervising staff, implementing policies, evaluating program effectiveness, coordinating training, resolving client cases, and networking with community organizations aiming to improve the well-being and quality of life for Chicago residents.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

1. Staff Supervision and Development:



  • Supervise staff, assign work, and review performance.
  • Implement personnel policies and changes as needed.
  • Assess staff training needs and coordinate training programs.
  • Lead weekly case staffing and monitor case management files.
  • Schedule regular staff meetings with team.



2. Program Administration and Evaluation:



  • Assist in managing all programs and services at the center.
  • Implement department policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements.
  • Prepare monthly program reports and community activity updates.


3. Client Support and Case Management:



  • Resolve difficult client cases and respond to inquiries/complaints.
  • Monitor client assessment reports prepared by staff.
  • Stay updated on social service theories and practices.


4. Community Engagement and Networking:



  • Network with community groups, social service agencies, and City departments.
  • Develop programs to address community needs and coordinate services.
  • Public speaking: Attend community meetings/events to promote services.
  • Develop and maintain a resource and referral network.


5. Facility and Operational Management:



  • Coordinate facility management functions.
  • Analyze work practices and implement changes to improve staff effectiveness.


6. Special Programs and Miscellaneous Duties:



  • Assist in planning and overseeing special and seasonal programs.
  • Performing other duties assigned that may include working some weekends.

Location: 4314 South Cottage Grove Avenue, Chicago, IL 60653

Shift: Monday - Friday

Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Starting Salary: $67,656.00

THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a directly related field, plus three years of community or social service experience, of which one year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications



  • A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required



Selection Requirements are as follows:



  1. Interview: Applicants must successfully complete an interview.
  2. Best-Suited Candidate: The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral parts of the interview, will be selected.


PREFERRED SKILLS: Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:



  • Proficiency in using a computer and Microsoft Office.
  • Previous work experience in a community or social service environment.
  • Experience in social services, client support, and staff supervision.
  • Previous experience supervising bargaining unit employees.
  • Master's degree in Social Services, Psychology, or Human Services.
