About the Position

The Systems Administrator is responsible for system or network administration including installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting. This role provides third tier technical support for system or network operating systems and applications. The Systems Administrator analyzes the impact of implementing new system hardware or software, recommends implementation schedule, conducts system analysis on current and proposed systems and applications, and researches/recommends the acquisition of new software, tools, and equipment.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.

OR

Combined education and experience qualifications

  • Other combinations of education or experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year for year basis.

Other requirements

  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire.
  • Training that may be provided on-the-job: FEMA NIMS - IS100 and 700; Safety; Payroll; PREA.
  • Prior to hiring, the Sheriff's Office requires that all candidates pass a background review.

Our Preferred Candidate has

  • Two (2) years of related experience with Security Operation Center (SOC) related, index and correlate data from a variety of sources.
  • Experience with Splunk software.
  • Experience with the implementing of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and incident response protocols to enhance security operations.
  • Windows 11 systems administration.

Essential Job Tasks

(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)

  • Generates, tunes, configures and upgrades the operating system.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves server hardware, software and LAN connectivity problems.
  • Maintains core infrastructure environment including installation, configuration, monitoring, operations, vulnerability management, troubleshooting/repair and maintenance of physical and virtual core infrastructure devices in a 24/7 environment.
  • Maintains HPE synergy blade infrastructure.
  • Designs, maintains, and troubleshoots VMware vSphere 6.5+.
  • Supports and configures HPE OneView.
  • Works with helpdesk and trouble call software to prioritize and manage support calls.
  • Works across disciplines to isolate issues between software, firmware, and hardware, between applications and the operating system, along with touchpoints at the application and network.
  • Participates in daily compute operations tasks such as provisioning, compute connectivity, compute allocation, incident problem management, and the implementation of changes to enterprise infrastructure.
  • Manages priorities for support calls and scheduled installations of hardware and software to ensure their timely completion.
  • Maintains high level of communication with customers related to scheduling hardware and software installations and support calls.
  • Manages disk space and monitors other network resources.
  • Evaluates system performance and provides reports to management.
  • Assists in system disaster recovery activities and enterprise backup.
  • Defines development tools and procedures for daily operational support.
  • Coordinates installations; configures server-based and regular software packages onto network servers to facilitate deployment to customers.
  • Maintains network security through security policy design, firewall installation, configuration and maintenance, VPN implementation, security technologies, products, and solutions.
  • Manages LAN accounts including additions, deletions, moves and changes.
  • Supports application activities that require specialized system programming.
  • Assists with software product evaluation, including installation, testing, and technical support for the applications programming or the computer operations staff.
  • Represents the department at meetings.

Knowledge of

  • Intermediate level: platforms such as VMware, Windows 2016+, HPE Blade infrastructure.
  • Intermediate level: overall computer operating procedures, server and workstation operating systems and platforms, current techniques and capabilities of local and wide area networks.

Skill in

  • Comprehending, analyzing, and communicating complex technical information.
  • Managing time efficiently and adjusting to multiple changing priorities.
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting issues with exceptional problem-solving skills.

  • Work in an on-call 24/7/365 environment to perform functions that occur during non-business hours and weekends.
