Job Title: Head of US Bank Regulatory Legal

Overview

In the role as Head of the US Bank Regulatory group in Deutsche Bank's Americas Regional Legal Department, you will advise Deutsche Bank's businesses and infrastructure functions on bank regulatory issues that arise in course of the Bank's Americas and global activities. Deutsche Bank is a global financial institution headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany with material operations in the United States, including a New York branch and subsidiaries including the broker-dealer Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. and the bank Deutsche Bank Trust Company Americas. The Bank's activities are subject to extensive regulation by the Federal Reserve Board, the New York State Department of Financial Services and other regulators.

You will provide, and oversee staff that provides, advice on the Bank's activities, transactions and investments within or impacting the Americas. In doing so, you will interact frequently with senior representatives of the Bank's businesses and infrastructure functions, regionally and globally, including the Regional CEO, the Americas Senior Management team, the Group General Counsel, the Global Head of Regulatory Legal, the Americas General Counsel, as well as with the Boards of Directors of the Bank's principal legal entities. You will also be expected to interact effectively with regulators and advise the businesses and infrastructure functions regarding their interactions. You will need to be able to manage and work well with other lawyers in the group and expected to mentor and train junior members of the group and other members of the US (and where relevant Group) legal department.

What You'll Do

  • Advising the business and infrastructure functions on the permissibility of activities, transactions and investments within or impacting the Americas
  • Preparing or advising on submissions to regulators and communicating to regulators in connection therewith
  • Advising the infrastructure functions on legal and regulatory matters affecting their responsibilities
  • Working closely with the governance function
  • Interacting with the Boards of Directors of the Bank's principal legal entities, the Regional CEO and Senior Management team
  • Working closely with the Americas General Counsel and the business line legal functions
  • Work cooperatively with members of the Group legal department, including the Group General Counsel and the Global Head of Regulatory Legal

How You'll Lead

  • Interaction with senior management in the region as client including the Regional CEO and the boards of directors of Deutsche Bank's main legal entities
  • Interaction with relevant regulations in cooperation with RMG (Regulatory Management Group)
  • Familiarity with U.S. securities laws as they apply to Deutsche Bank as a foreign private issuer and SEC registrant and other laws relevant to Deutsche Bank's business in the Americas

Skills You'll Need

  • Knowledge of bank regulation U.S. bank regulatory law, including (but not limited to) the Bank Holding Company Act, the Federal Reserve Act and the Dodd-Frank Act, and regulations issued thereunder by the federal banking agencies
  • Knowledge of Regulations Y, YY, W, H, O and K and other core banking regulations, and also with laws and regulations applicable to limited purpose national trust companies, state member banks and state non-member banks, including the New York state banking law and Superintendent's regulations as applied to both New York state chartered depository institutions and New York licensed branches of foreign banks
  • Knowledge of U.S bank-regulatory reporting requirements, resolution planning requirements and capital rules, as well as state branching and representative office requirements and international banking experience
  • Experience in interaction with regulatory authorities (applications, plan submissions, regulatory dialogues, enforcement actions and similar interactions)
  • Experience with bank examinations in the U.S.

Expectations

It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $295,000 to $400,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
