Job Summary

Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is seeking to fill a Head of Circulation position at Rust Library in Leesburg, VA. The Head of Circulation will oversee the circulation department in the branch, supervise and evaluate staff, maximize workflows, demonstrate skill in working with the Integrated Library System and related technologies, serve as a member of the branch management team and ensure the daily delivery of high-quality customer service. Successful candidates will develop and preserve effective relationships with staff, customers and the community as well as:

  • Manage a high-performing team whose dedication is essential to the Library's mission while fostering a culture of collaboration
  • Exhibit exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with staff, customers, and the community.
  • Be aware of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in public library services
  • Possess strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills.
LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week. Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree. Supervisory experience and experience working in a library are strongly preferred. Spanish/English bilingual skills preferred.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Successful candidates will undergo background checks as required.
Hold or obtain a Notary Public license within one (1) year of hire. Passport Acceptance Agent training required within one (1) year of hire date. Work requires ability to push or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 200 pounds. Some bending, reaching, walking and standing required. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds required.
