Position Summary

We are looking for a Production Engineer to be responsible for assessing complex manufacturing processes and support equipment to increase quality of product, productivity, and efficiency of the production line.

In addition, the Production Engineer will be responsible for process assurance and process improvement by identifying, investigating, and analyzing technical issues and recommending corrective actions to resolve such issues. Will aid in capacity modelling and production line layout and design when applicable

The selected will be able to work alongside Production Line Supervisors to ensure proper production flow to achieve production goals. You assist wherever the need is.

Responsibilities



  • Working with Engineering/Production to make sure that WR/RR incorporation is managed and handled in an expedient fashion to improve floor efficiency.
  • Experience performing and completing Value Stream Maps for production processes. Able to define an improvement plan based on these findings (Kaizan).
  • Able to train in production processes and lean manufacturing techniques to deliver measurable results.
  • Creates and maintains required manufacturing process documentation, including process flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, standard work, cycle time analysis and line balancing.
  • Evaluates data and recommends procedural and/or process changes.
  • Keeps track and maintains KPIs for the assigned projects, processes, or areas.
  • Evaluates and proposes engineering change requests to streamline manufacturing processes and flow by providing feedback based on manufacturability and operational cost.
  • Apply advanced engineering principles and solve technical (production/quality) problems on components, manufacturing processes, production flow and overall quality of the production lines.
  • Researches and recommends tooling and updates to work instructions. Follows through with proposed efforts until implementation.
  • Working experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques, 5s and Six Sigma.
  • Champions 5s efforts across the production lines.



Qualifications

Education:



  • BS in Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.



Certification(s):



  • Formal training/certification, in Operational Excellence Systems (Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, APQP) a plus.



Experience:



  • 3-5+ years' experience in manufacturing environment (automated test systems a plus).
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Prior Small satellite manufacturing and test experience preferred.



Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:



  • Working knowledge on Lean Manufacturing and Root Cause Analysis techniques such as (8D, Fish Bone Diagram, 5 Whys, DOE, Line balancing, etc.).
  • Working knowledge and hands-on experience with production systems, SPC and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Working knowledge of the quality management systems AS9001.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, root cause analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Highly proactive and autonomous, a decision maker.
  • Proven experience of managing production deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills to drive production goals.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate effectively across the organization.
  • Strong networking and relations building skills.
  • Solid understanding of test flow and functional inter-relationships.
  • Strong background in aerospace industry.



Technical Systems Proficiency:



  • Skilled in the use of Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and TEAMS.
  • Working knowledge of SAP (or similar ERP system), JIRA, and MES.



Eligibility:



  • U.S. Citizenship required.



Clearance:



  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Active DoD security clearance at Top Secret/ SCI desirable.



Physical Requirements:



  • Carrying: able to carry documents and/or electronic equipment up to 20lbs/9kg.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents and/or electronic equipment up to 20lbs/9kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
