Job Overview

The Field Sales Engineer provides field service engineering and technical assistance to customers in areas of installation, startup, maintenance & repair, training, and modification of equipment.


Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications and will be discussed during the interview process. The salary range for this role is $90,000 - $115,000 annually and also offers a competitive benefits package.

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you'll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you'll make a difference by:



  • Providing technical solutions to customers that involve engineering research impacting equipment or product design, testing of materials, process studies, and economic impact analysis.
  • Routinely providing technical solutions to customers on moderately complex problems within a set of products or industries served.
  • Participating in larger project teams and may also be managing small project teams with narrow scope.
  • Continually acquiring higher level knowledge of products and processes but can research independently and only requiring moderate levels of coaching and guidance


Key Responsibilities:



  • Installation and Commissioning:Setting up and help in installing new power quality and energy meters at customer sites, ensuring that it functions correctly and meets the operational standards specified.
  • Maintenance and Repairs:Performing routine maintenance and diagnosing problems with equipment. Assist in repairing or replacing faulty parts and ensuring that the equipment is operational again in a timely manner.
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting:Providing remote & on-site technical support to customers, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and resolving them directly or advising on the necessary steps to fix them.
  • Customer Training:Educating customers on how to use equipment safely and effectively, often providing hands-on training and detailed operational manuals.
  • Documentation:Writing service reports and documentation of repairs and maintenance for company records and compliance purposes. This also includes updating service logs and maintaining records of customer interactions.
  • Compliance and Safety:Ensuring all work complies with industry standards and safety regulations. This includes maintaining a safe work environment and using appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Feedback and Improvement:Providing feedback to the product development teams based on customer interactions and issues faced in the field. This can help in improving product design and functionality.
  • Emergency Response:Being available to respond to emergency service calls, often required travel at short notice and working outside of normal business hours.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field (required)
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience (required)
  • Proficiency in relevant software and hardware.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Technical Proficiency:Strong understanding of the power systems, metering applications industry practices and electrical equipment being serviced.
  • Problem-Solving Skills:Excellent analytical skills to diagnose issues and determine the best way to fix them.
  • Communication Skills:Ability to communicate effectively with customers, explaining complex technical issues in a way that non-experts can understand.
  • Customer Service:Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-oriented approach to ensure customer satisfaction and build long-term relationships.
  • Adaptability:Flexibility to handle unexpected situations and adapt to different working environments and schedules.
  • Physical Stamina:Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, which may include lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
