The PantherDining Hall at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a part-time Banquet Captain (Temp).

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

This position will supervise and coordinate catering staff during setup, service, and breakdown of events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:



  • Act as the main point of contact between catering staff, kitchen, and event coordinators.
  • Leads the organization and completion of event orders, to include compiling packing lists.
  • Ensure proper table settings, buffet arrangements, and decor per event specifications.
  • Lead pre-event meetings to communicate assignments, timelines, and service standards.
  • Oversee the timely delivery of food and equipment.
  • Oversee the timing of meal service and ensure guests' needs are attended to promptly.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide guidance to maintain high-quality service.
  • Address guest concerns or special requests in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ensure all health, safety, and sanitation standards are followed.
  • Assist in setup and breakdown of event spaces when needed.
  • Complete post-event reports and communicate feedback to management.
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests and clients.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:




  • High school diploma or GED; two years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.




Preferred Requirements:



  • Prior experience as a banquet server or captain required.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent Customer Service.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Flexible schedule; must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Physical Requirements: Extended standing, walking, ability to bend, stoop, reach and climb ladders.
  • Ability to work in all temperature conditions.
