DevOps, DevSecOps & Data Engineer (TEMP)

The Opportunity:

The University of Central Florida's (UCF) Institute for Simulation and Training (IST) is conducting a search for a DevOps, DevSecOps & Data Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and efficient infrastructure for digital twin applications. This role is responsible for managing deployment pipelines, cloud infrastructure, real-time data integration, and system security. The ideal candidate will collaborate with software engineers, AI/ML specialists, and systems engineers to ensure reliable and high-performing digital twin operations.

Responsibilities:


  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and system updates.

  • Manage cloud infrastructure to ensure scalability, security, and high availability of digital twin applications.

  • Develop and enforce DevSecOps best practices, including security monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and compliance enforcement.

  • -Build and maintain data pipelines for real-time data ingestion, processing, and integration into digital twin systems.

  • Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement optimizations for efficiency and reliability.

  • Collaborate with AI/ML engineers and software developers to ensure seamless integration of models and data workflows.

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and system management using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools.

  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance deployment, security, and data processing capabilities.

  • Write and maintain documentation on deployment processes, security policies, and data management strategies.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

  • Experience with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD, containerization, and automation.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and infrastructure management.

  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or Terraform.

  • Experience with real-time data processing and data pipeline development.

  • Understanding of security best practices, encryption, and compliance frameworks.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and microservices architecture.

  • Familiarity with event-driven data processing and streaming technologies (Kafka, Apache Flink, or similar).

  • Knowledge of machine learning model deployment and MLOps practices.

  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.

  • Strong background in monitoring and observability using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.

This is a Contract and Grant (C&G) funded position.

Due to the nature of the research involved in this position, the ability to obtain a security clearance is preferred.
