The Auto Mechanic is responsible for the periodic maintenance and repair of transportation vehicles and a variety of construction work equipment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A minimum of two years of mechanical experience dealing extensively with all types of construction equipment and fleet vehicles. Two years of vocational training in automotive technology preferred. General welding, including structural, and fabrication experience is preferred. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or other certifications (such as forklift, manlift, CNG, welding, A/C repair, Air brakes, etc.) is preferred. Have knowledge of auto, truck, and construction equipment mechanics; basic to complex mechanical and maintenance practices and procedures; all tools and technical diagnostic equipment usage and maintenance; safe work practices including automotive environmental compliance; Company forms and records; Company procedure manuals; state and federal regulations; troubleshooting techniques; complex diagnostic, repair and maintenance procedures; parts availability and proper supply levels; work scheduling priorities; the ability to prioritize workload; personal computer skills. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) under Title 49 CFR Part 382 and Part 40. Any applicant/employee who performs a DOT-covered function or is licensed and would operate a commercial vehicle for the Company will be subject to drug and alcohol testing under the Company's DOT drug and alcohol testing programs. Any employment, transfer, or promotion offer made for this position is contingent upon taking and passing a drug test prior to the commencement of the new role. If an applicant/employee fails the drug test, any offer of employment, transfer, or promotion will be revoked.
