Individual will perform mechanical maintenance for all plant equipment and deliver onsite training courses with a focus on safety, quality, customer service and productivity. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote an incident and injury free work environment through demonstrated actions and interactions with others
- Support project activities and site needs, as well as call ins after scheduled hours and weekends
- Ability to work in a team and have good communication skills with people at all levels, both internal and external to SCJ
- Mechanical ability to maintain production equipment to optimize run-ability through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of machines.
- Advanced troubleshooting of industrial, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical failures and the aptitude to correct those failures, identify root cause and implement preventative measures.
- Preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance, including bench work and parts rebuilding
- Lead project work with other technicians/contractors, which may include both fabrication and installation of equipment
- Design and development of new equipment/machines with close follow-up
- Support development and drive implementation of Planned Maintenance Schedules for home plant and across site as needed
- Adjust, repair, and replace specialized equipment
- Support in plant changeovers and startups
- Active involvement and participation in Lean/PM Pillar Systems, breakdown analysis, Kaizen Teams, Autonomous Production Teams, Loss Teams, and utilization of Lean/Pillar and problem-solving tools
- Utilization of SAP/PM system as required
- Active member of morning shift huddles
- Lead transfer of knowledge to technicians including classroom and hands on training
- Support transfer of knowledge/skills to peers
- Provide maintenance support to home plant and across site as the business needs
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
- Journeyman Machinist, Mechanic, or Mechatronic
- Willing and able to attend additional external classes provided to increase knowledge based on the mechanical training grid, as assigned
- Completed BAT Apprenticeship program, or equivalent:
- 8,000 logged maintenance discipline hours (w/a current Journeyman)
- All identified college credits completed (Delta College Skilled Trades Certificate awarded)
- Completed within the same timeframe of demonstrated hours
- College credit hours do not count as maintenance hours
- Ability to safely lift-up to 50 pounds as required
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the customer
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:
- Experience in troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Demonstration of troubleshooting and repair capability for intricate systems on automated machines
- Experience with conveyors systems and packaging equipment
- Experience in troubleshooting and adjustment of pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
- Demonstrated high-initiative and self-starter capable of project leadership and the ability to complete tasks independently and with minimal direction and supervision
- Welding, machining skills, and electrical experience

- Must be able to work alternate schedules including nights, and overtime based on business needs.
