Job Description: Reinsurance Reporting Technical Accountant

Main Purpose:

Manage and analyze reinsurance technical accounts, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and effective communication with stakeholders. This role requires advanced computer skills and strong written and oral communication abilities to optimize processes and support organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, and maintain accurate reinsurance technical accounts, including premium adjustments, commission calculations, and claims transactions.

  • Analyze treaty accounts to ensure compliance with contractual terms and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with brokers, reinsurers, and internal departments to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.

  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Monthly Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly reports on actual versus expected performance, layering in comprehensive commentary to explain significant variances across five divisions.

  • Compose concise memos that clearly outline significant variances, simplifying complex data into digestible insights for stakeholders to easily absorb and act upon.

Insight Generation:

  • Generate insights from variance analysis to support informed decision-making by management and key stakeholders across the organization.

  • Communicate findings effectively to vested stakeholders, ensuring clarity and relevance of the information presented.

Multi-tasking and Time Management:

  • Effectively manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of reports and analyses.

  • Prioritize workload and adapt to changing requirements to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Operational and Financial Analysis:

  • Conduct various financial and operational analyses, generating trending reports that monitor performance metrics across the organization.

  • Utilize data and reporting tools to develop and enhance analytical capabilities.

Collaboration with Stakeholders:

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders and the data applications team to enhance existing reports and to design new reporting solutions.

  • Work closely with global partners to ensure alignment and streamline reporting processes.

Automation of Reporting Processes:

  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting processes and improve efficiency, reducing manual effort and increasing accuracy.

  • Contribute to projects aimed at enhancing data reporting systems and methodologies.

Presentation Development:

  • Collaborate with Head of Technical Accounting to create engaging PowerPoint presentations to showcase key performance indicators (KPIs) and analytical findings for stakeholders and upper management.

Ad-Hoc Analysis:

  • Carry out ad-hoc analyses as required by management or stakeholders, providing timely and relevant insights to support business objectives.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Encourage and embrace feedback from stakeholders to refine reporting processes and enhance analytical frameworks.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, data analysis techniques, and reporting best practices to optimize analysis and reporting efforts continuously.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in reinsurance accounting or a related role.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and other financial reporting tools.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively convey complex information.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with reinsurance systems such as SICS or similar platforms.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the reinsurance industry.

Role Factors:

In this role, you will typically be required to:

  • Be in the office 3 days per week

What we offer:

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $40,000 to $55,000 (NY), . Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.

In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
