Job Description

The Plant Process Engineer, reporting to the Plant Manager, will develop and drive Maintenance/Technical/Engineering to deliver and sustain profitable growth. It will establish and enable a consolidated process improvement program designed to integrate the business processes for continuously improving performance, using the Lean Initiative as the change methodology, which results in improved quality, efficiency, and profitability for the company. Process improvement work will include improving safety and environmental performance, reducing energy requirements, incremental production increases, and product presentation improvement. It will work with highly talented and successful people to guide and reinforce a team of self-managed/achievement-oriented maintenance technicians. A fundamental task will be to support and influence change and provide the direction and guidance for the team to ensure that the technical goals are met for critical manufacturing components.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Develop improved methods for delivering finished product to our customers
  • Serve as the primary driver for cost improvement projects for current and new operations
  • Act as primary technical lead for process and equipment improvement projects
  • Oversee equipment modifications, upgrades, and new installations
  • Interact with customers, T&I, Business Unit Leaders, and other Process Engineering functions to solve process issues, quality concerns and identify new or improved products or methods for delivering value-added products to customers
  • Subject Matter Expert in troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
  • Identify and implement new/improved methods of manufacturing to improve profitability
  • Complete projects in equipment design, equipment installation, construction, process development, experimentation, and supplier development.
  • Prepare project plans, budgets, ROI analysis, etc.
  • Collaborates with maintenance group to ensure preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance to maximize uptime of all equipment through equipment evaluations, design improvements and/or preventative maintenance routines.
  • Ensure project teams follow requirements listed in SAFT-P-029 Management of change. Ensure all project documents and safety inspections are completed prior to release of projects or equipment to production.
  • Work with Safety, Maintenance, Engineering and Production Management to ensure project impacts are understood and negative impacts minimized.
  • Recommend improvements for yield, capacity, capability, or cost in alignment with business goals.
  • Recommend improvements to safety systems and programs.
  • Manage relationships with equipment suppliers.
  • Develop operator or maintenance work instructions.
  • Lead and advocate long term continuous improvement through identification of improvement projects, detailing out project ideas, organization benefits, and cost/resource implications.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Engineering Degreewith 3+ years of experience in process engineering or continuous improvement within a manufacturing setting.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Ability to draft and design complex parts and assemblies using parametric CAD software (Solidworks preferred).
  • Good working knowledge of fabrication techniques such as welding, machining, sheet metal.
  • Long periods of standing, must be able to lift 50 pounds with assistance.
  • On-site orientation and training will be provided.
  • Production environment where Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required.
  • Must have the ability to work overtime and shift work.
  • Ability to travel ~15%
