Position Overview


Primary Purpose of Position
The Equal Employment Opportunity ( EEO) Investigator is responsible for conducting impartial and thorough investigations of complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in the workplace.

The EEO Investigator plays a crucial role in promoting a fair and inclusive workplace, and in protecting the rights of employees and they are committed to promoting and enforcing equal employment opportunity for all university employees. Reporting to the Director of Employee Relations & EEO, the EEO Investigator gathers and analyzes evidence,

interviews witnesses and parties involved in the complaint, and determines the complaint's merit. They are also responsible for making recommendations for appropriate action to be taken, such as mediation or disciplinary action.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the administration of justice or criminal justice, human resources, public or business administration, legal studies or related field. A Master's degree is preferred. A minimum of five to seven years of experience in EEO investigations, employee relations, HR compliance, or legal investigations and evidence of excellent written and oral communication, and human relations/interpersonal skills. Required knowledge of federal, state, and local EEO laws and regulations (e.g., Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, and related legislation). Demonstrable skills in Investigative techniques, legal analysis, report writing, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation. Ability to handle sensitive matters confidentially, conduct impartial investigations, communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and provide EEO training. They must have excellent analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to remain impartial and objective throughout the investigation process. The ability to work independently and manage a high workload is also essential for success in this role.
