Hopkins Athletics is a multidivisional department with 22 programs competing at the NCAA DIII level and two programs (men's and women's lacrosse) competing at the NCAA Division I level (BIG 10 Conference). The department also hosts a variety of robust recreational activities such as club sports, intramurals, and fitness programming. The Assistant AD for Event Management works to support the mission and integrity of the Johns Hopkins University and the Athletics and Recreation Department. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage events within Johns Hopkins Athletic and Recreation Facilities, including varsity home contests, campus-sponsored student events, and external rentals.
- Coordinate event scheduling with Associate Athletic Director, Facilities & Events and the Director of Recreation.
- Determine staffing requirements and collaborate with the business office to hire, train, schedule, and organize payment for students, interns, and private contractors working events.
- Serve as tournament director and event manager for regular and post-season varsity contests.
- Train and manage event staff and provide all necessary administration, including game-day paperwork and event checklists.
- Serve as primary contact for external rental events, including event intake, correspondences, preparing estimates, facility scheduling, implementation, managing day of logistics, collection of payment and necessary paperwork.
- Serve as primary contact to campus partners in general counsel and risk management as it relates to events. Ensure all events hosted in Athletics and Recreation meet Johns Hopkins liability standards.
- Manage revenue-generating initiatives related to facility rentals, camps, and clinics. Participate in the development of annual goal.
- Manage the intern program consisting of sport management students to assist in achieving our goals and staffing our events.
- Responsible for fostering a commitment to diversity and inclusiveness throughout all levels of the organization, including but not limited to staffing and programming.
- Ability to work nights and weekends is required.
- Other duties as assigned, including special projects.

Key Relationships
- The Assistant Athletic Director is directly supervised by the Associate Athletic Director of Facilities and Events. This position has significant interactions with faculty and staff, students, and other outside constituencies and must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five (5) years of related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
