Hyundai's North America Quality Center (NAQC) is looking for a Senior Engineer for its Investigation Team Two



The Team:

NAQC is the quality arm for Hyundai Motor Group (HMG)'s North American vehicle models. NAQC seeks to further Hyundai's goal of becoming the leading automotive manufacturer in North America by delivering uncompromising quality and exceeding consumer expectations.



The Position:

The Sr. EL (electrical)/INF (infotainment) Engineer would focus on the continuous development and enhancement of electrical and infotainment systems for Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles by performing field and on-site investigations and root cause analysis regarding EL and INF-related issues

What You Will Do:

  • Lead quality gate audits with affiliates, vendors, and HMG teams to evaluate newly released test software, identify emerging quality issues, and verify resolution plans to ensure complete software development prior to market release
  • Utilize warranty claim analysis and severity assessments to conduct quality investigations on Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles and their respective infotainment and other electronic systems
  • Investigate and support the testing of EL and INF-related quality issues in Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles by responding to requests from Hyundai Motor Group, sales affiliates, vehicle assembly plants, and in cases of sudden increases in warranty claims
  • Lead investigations with involved stakeholders to identify, analyze, replicate, and resolve quality-related issues for electrical and infotainment systems
  • Utilize subjective and objective data from field and on-site investigations to analyze and diagnose root causes of EL and INF-related quality issues
  • Plan, lead, and conduct comprehensive end-to-end testing for connected car services
  • Develop test cases for new system evaluations to perform in-depth assessments of various electrical and infotainment systems
  • Conduct Over-The-Air (OTA) update validations to confirm market deployment readiness
  • Instrument various DAQ systems to prototype and customer vehicles to capture vehicle ECU (electronic control unit) data
  • Perform part-failure analysis on electrical and infotainment components to diagnose electrical and infotainment-related issues and share findings with the corresponding vendor(s) and other quality divisions via investigation reports
  • Publish technical reports on electrical and infotainment system evaluations and investigations to provide HMG R&D and quality teams with recommendations for improvement
  • Provide technical support and participate in various product evaluation programs with NA sales affiliates and assembly plants
  • Support dealers and vendors with electrical and infotainment-related issues by performing root cause analysis and providing solutions/countermeasures
  • Perform supplier audits to ensure NA meets HMG's quality standards
  • Identify market trends via customer feedback, external indices (e.g., J.D. Power, Consumer Reports, etc.), customer forums, and automotive syndicated studies
  • Research, procure, and maintain new technologies, tools, and methods for data acquisition and analysis purposes
  • Collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders (i.e., HMG R&D, suppliers, other quality departments, etc.) to resolve complex, quality-related issues
  • Mentor junior engineers on best practices and facilitate on-the-job learning
  • Travel up to 40% of the time, both domestically and internationally

What You Will Bring to the Role:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering
  • 7+ years of experience working with electrical and infotainment systems
  • QA/QC/QI experience
  • Familiarity with Vector CANalyzer/CANoe/CANape, Oscilloscope, and Spectrum analyzer
  • Root cause analysis skills
  • Experience conducting field and on-site investigations
  • Familiarity with performing testing, validation, research, and benchmarking activities/tasks concerning electrical and infotainment systems
  • Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to perform additional projects and tasks (as assigned) to support the overall mission, vision, and goals of NAQC
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs, such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Excellenttime management, self-management, and organization skills
  • Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Project management experience
  • Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
