Job Description Summary

The Mid-Atlantic Program Intern works with the Mid-Atlantic market office. The position requires strong oral and written communication and analytical skills, self-motivation, ability to work both independently and as a team player, and ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

This internship will begin on 6/2/25 and end on 8/29/25.

Some of the key Mid-Atlantic programs include:

State and local policy work focused on increasing resources and expanding policies that strengthen the work to preserve and create housing for low and moderate-income residents.

Faith-Based Development Initiative: Provide technical and financial assistance to help houses of worship leverage their land for the development of new affordable housing and community facilities.

Equitable Transit Oriented Development: Partner with stakeholders of the Purple Line Corridor Coalition to provide capital and policy solutions to ensure no net loss of 17,000 affordable homes along the Purple Line corridor in Maryland.

Strengthening the capacity of non-profit community development corporations to have impact in their communities. The CDC Neighborhood Exchange provides a range of technical assistance and peer learning opportunities for Baltimore based non-profit CDCs.

Bridging racial equity gaps: Work with community stakeholders in Baltimore and Washington, D.C., to strengthen housing stability, to increase economic mobility and household wealth, and to enhance educational and health outcomes.

Access to capital: Increase public and private financial resources to make housing affordability possible at the scale needed.

The Intern's primary work will focus on providing support for the team's state and local policy work and efforts related to Enterprise's Faith-Based Development Initiative (FBDI) work in the Mid-Atlantic region. As time permits, the intern may provide support for PLCC and CDC Neighborhood Exchange efforts. The intern will report to the Senior Director of State and Local Policy and the Senior Program Director that leads FBDI efforts. The position will be hybrid, with an expectation of working from the Washington, D.C. office once a week. At times there will be a need to attend other stakeholder events/meetings in person.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Organize deliverables produced from FBDI consulting engagements.

  • Create database of services delivered to program partners and partner program related activity outcomes.

  • Research housing, tenant-landlord, economic mobility, and or legislative, budget, or planning and development policies, strategies, and various tools to support related program and policy efforts.

  • Attend and provide notes on policy related meetings, coalition discussions, and appointments with officials; assist with follow-up activities, deliverables identified within these conversations.

  • Support delivery of technical assistance, including support for webinars, training, toolkit development, or case study research.

  • Communicate with external partners regarding reports, deadlines and community meetings that are congruent with the goals and objectives of the Mid-Atlantic Market.

Qualifications:

  • Current graduate student or senior year undergraduate student, required.

  • Interest in affordable housing, economic and community development.

  • Strong research, analytical and/or project management skills.

  • Experience working on state and local policy work, real estate development and/or efforts related to engaging with faith-based community development efforts are preferred but not required.

  • Experience working collaboratively.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience with mapping various market indicators and conditions, using GIS or similar is preferred but not required.

  • Microsoft Word and Excel skills and familiarity with web-based research are required.

The base pay for this role is $18 to $25 per hour, depending on level of skills and experience.

The salary range for this position is represented by the low and high end of the range for the amount to be paid for the position. Salaries paid at Enterprise will vary based on factors that may include skills, education, location, experience, and performance.
