Overview: We are seeking an Attorney Recruiter to join our recruiting team. In this role, you will be responsible for our lateral attorney recruiting process, working under the direction of the Managers of Recruiting, Inclusion & Diversity. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in driving recruitment initiatives. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the firm's attorney hiring process, from sourcing candidates to ensuring internal stakeholders are delivering their respective roles in the process, to coordinating interviews and finally ensuring a smooth onboarding experience for new hires.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Oversight of Lateral Hiring Process
- Ensure all internal stakeholders are aware of roles, responsibilities and deliverables of the Lateral Hiring Process at the outset of a new request
- Monitor internal stakeholder delivery to ensure progress against our Lateral Hiring flowchart, but using independent judgment/autonomy to apply flexibility when warranted based on the nature and details of each individual candidate.
- Troubleshoot any bottlenecks in the process, escalating to senior more senior leaders when necessary.
- Leverage technology to ensure candidate progress is transparent and all internal stakeholders are aware of status at any given time.
- Recruiting Coordination:
- Draft and manage job postings for lateral attorney roles, ensuring they are effectively communicated to the right audiences.
- Oversee the applicant data entry process, ensuring compliance with firm policies and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with the recruiting team to ensure that all requests to hire are processed efficiently.
- Candidate Sourcing & Screening:
- Review and assess attorney candidates' qualifications and experience, screening materials and identifying potential issues or questions (e.g., licensure, qualifications, gaps in employment).
- Regularly communicate with candidates and/or coordinate with internal stakeholders to communicate with candidates, providing updates and ensuring a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process.
- Manage relationships with search firms and other sourcing channels to find the best talent.
- Interview & Offer Process:
- Collect interview feedback and assist in evaluating candidates for final offer decisions.
- Draft offer letters and coordinate the due diligence process, including background checks and conflict-of-interest reviews.
- Onboarding Logistics:
- Coordinate onboarding logistics, including office location assignments, equipment preferences, and scheduling pre-start meetings for new hires.
- Ensure smooth first-day experiences for new hires, including coordinating tours and introductions.
- Project Management & Decision-Making:
- Lead and manage recruitment projects, utilizing discretion and judgment to make informed decisions at each stage of the process.
- Oversee timelines, resources, and stakeholder communication to ensure projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Balance multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail in managing competing needs.
- Committee & Reporting Support:
- Maintain systems, reports, and communication related to recruitment, ensuring transparency and collaboration across departments.
- Provide support for the Lateral Hiring Committee by managing data, budget tracking, and administrative needs.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5+ years of experience in law firm or professional services recruiting.
- An ability to navigate sensitive situations and maintain professionalism while addressing the needs and concerns of shareholders, ensuring alignment with the firm's goals and values.
- Experience with VIDesktop or other applicant tracking systems (ATS) to manage candidate data, track recruitment progress, and ensure a streamlined hiring process.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise job postings, reports, and correspondence.
- Proficiency in HR software like UKG and the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- A solutions-oriented approach and the ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.

Our retirement plan includes financial planning, 401k/Roth investment options, and a firm-paid profit-sharing contribution. Benefits are subject to eligibility requirements. The salary range for this position varies by geographical market. In Minneapolis, the estimated starting annual pay range is $80,000 - $95,000 per year. The compensation offered will be dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, education, professional background, overall qualifications, and geographic market location.
