The primary responsibility of the Senior Staff Reservoir Technician is to maintain and populate engineering databases to support the Reservoir team. The incumbent must be confident handing and gathering data for volumetric calculations to ascertain well performance and decline curves. The Senior Staff Reservoir Technician will be required to assist Engineering staff with data management and integration support of pertinent files.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build, maintain, and update reserves and budget databases in Aries, Spotfire, Access and SQL
- Gather, organize, and analyze production, technical and economic data from internal and external sources
- Coordinate information from internal and external databases into reports for review
- Assist in economic forecasting and evaluation
- Build views and queries in SQL and pull data as needed
- Analyze and load LOE data from lease operating statements and incorporate into economic models
- Audit departmental workflow processes to ensure data quality
- Analyze and load marketing and pricing information, including basis differentials, pertinent contract data and plant statements into economic models for analysis
- Recommend collection of reservoir data as appropriate to evaluate reservoirs and enhance future exploitation
- Capture data and analyze results on a continual basis and make recommendations to enhance ongoing asset development
- Work closely with other technical engineering departments including the Geosciences teams to maximize efficiencies
- Assist engineers with PDP declines as needed and generate production volume profiles for use in annual budget
- Able to translate complex technical requests into effective datasets and/or reports
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. degree or higher in related engineering discipline
- A minimum of 8 years of direct industry experience as a Reservoir Engineering Technician
- A minimum of 8 years of experience with Aries, Spotfire, Access and SQL
- Advanced excel skills to construct specialized databases used for engineering analysis projects
- Must be able to manipulate large data sets
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in a related engineering discipline
- Knowledge of SEC Reserves and decline curves
- Basic understanding of Petroleum Economics
- Confident performing mathematical calculations
- Motivated self-starter capable of performing with minimal supervision
