Overview
Director Compensation Full-time, Day Shift Location: Remote/work from home The Director, Compensation, serves as a strategic partner who plans and directs the overall design, implementation, communication, and administration of the organization's compensation. The Director serves as a strategic partner by collaborating with leadership across the organization and industry to achieve business priorities through a comprehensive Total Rewards Strategy. The Director ensures the compensation programs align with the goals of the organization and support high-performance by rewarding and attracting top talent. This role will remain current on industry trends, best practices, and compliance to drive operational excellence and innovation, including remaining cognizant of ongoing market competitiveness of organization's compensation structure.
Responsibilities
- Supports and helps drive the vision, strategy, and objectives of Human Resources (HR) and the
Total Rewards Center of Excellence (COE). Helps shape, influence, and support UnityPoint Health's total rewards strategy and employee value proposition - Directs, designs, and plans compensation policies, objectives, and initiatives.
Oversees the collection of wage, salary, and incentive survey data to ensure the organization's compensation programs and objectives are competitive. Administers the short-term incentive program, driving organization performance and complying with pertinent regulations. In conjunction with Marketing/Communications, oversees messaging to team members to promote clarity and reinforce the value of compensation programs. Champions timely and robust data collection and analysis processes that support research and market, pay equity, and other compensation studies. Develops, plans, recommends, and implements compensation philosophies, strategies, methodologies, and goals to help attract and retain talented high performing employees. - Designs and implements market competitive, innovative, and cost-effective pay structures, policies, programs, and practices for UPH while balancing system consistency with regional market differences.
- Initiates and facilitates annual benchmarking of compensation programs to recommend and establish pay scales, merit increases, new job and position creation, and incentive pay program design. Stays current about trends, practices and costs.
- Serves as compensation expert advisor to HR Leadership on pay related programs/issues.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, business, Finance or related field
- Master's degree preferred
Experience:
- Three (3) years progressively responsible experience leading the compensation function with a large organization
- Eight (8) years experience with compensation Comprehensive knowledge & experience in leading compensation-based programs. Prior success in leading compensation functions within a large, complex organization
- Experience in designing effective incentive (at risk) compensation programs for executives, management and hourly staff
Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local compensation-based laws and regulations.
- Mathematical aptitude and analysis skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
