Position Summary: Performs entry level professional engineering work of a routine nature requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Limited exercise of judgment required on details of work and in making preliminary selection and application or adaptations of engineering alternatives, work performed under close supervision of supervising engineer. Authority of position is that required to carry out assigned duties except where expressly reserved by immediate supervisor or Werfen Corporate/ Divisional policy. This entry-level role will be a Systems Engineer working on new product development of GEM Premier and ROTEM instruments, which are whole blood diagnostic devices used in acute care. Systems Engineering is the functional group within R&D Hardware Engineering that is responsible for integrating hardware into full systems with software and firmware. Major areas of focus are unit integration, configuration management, requirements engineering, risk management, and verification. Key Accountabilities: * Root causes technical problems in an organized and rational manner * Performs engineering work of a limited scope and complexity under direct supervision * New product development of a complex electromechanical device within a regulated environment * Assumes limited technical direction to support technicians when so directed. * Work assignments are varied and usually involve limited responsibility and judgment on details of work. * Executes basic engineering studies, integration tests, experiments, verifications, and summarizes results * Drafts verification protocols and reports * Modifies system and subsystem requirements and specifications * Updates risks with Design and User Failure Mode Effects & Critical Analysis (d/uFMECAs or d/uFMEAs) * Creates design change risk assessments * Analyzes data consistent with established standards, workflows, and specifications * Works closely with other engineers, technicians, and support personnel Budget Managed (if applicable): N/A Internal Networking/Key Relationships: * Assists more senior engineers on engineering programs. * Will interface on a regular basis with groups across the organization Skills & Capabilities: * Problem Solving * Detail Oriented * Well Organized * Clear and Concise Communication * Independent, Self-Starter * Time Management * Teamwork * Priority Setting Qualifications
