Overview

Seeking a new career challenge? Then Woolpert is seeking you! Woolpert is hiring an Engineer Program Director to join our dynamic Water Resources team in Houston, TX!

This role is primarily focused on driving business development efforts to support growth, particularly in city and county projects for H&H and Drainage. The ideal candidate will provide operational leadership, ensuring project success, optimizing resources, and improving performance metrics while also fostering relationships with clients and positioning Woolpert as a leader in the infrastructure market.



Responsibilities

Business Development (80%)

    Client Solutions: Drive growth in the Water Sector by offering tailored solutions to city, county, and other clients.
  • Market Positioning: Leverage Woolpert's global capabilities to stay ahead of industry trends, identifying opportunities for business development, particularly in city and county projects.
  • Partnership Development: Collaborate with infrastructure partners to address major challenges and deliver solutions that balance affordability and community livability.
  • Industry Engagement: Stay informed of emerging trends in the transportation and water resources industries to anticipate client needs and lead innovative approaches to meet their objectives.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to position Woolpert for long-term success within the transportation and water resources markets, with a focus on city and county-level engagements.

Operations Management (20%)

  • Technical Leadership: Provide oversight and guidance to project management teams, ensuring the successful delivery of projects in the Water Sector.
  • Resource Allocation: Collaborate with sector discipline leaders to allocate resources effectively, focusing on employee development and training to support operational efficiency.
  • Project Reviews: Lead monthly project reviews with market directors, practice leaders, and FP&A teams to assess performance and address challenges.
  • Operational Performance: Analyze operational performance within the Infrastructure Sector, proactively identifying areas for improvement, ensuring effective project execution and meeting key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • KPI Analysis: Monitor key KPIs such as utilization, net revenue, multiplier, gross profit, and WIP/AR; develop and implement actionable improvement plans.
  • Senior-Level Engagement: Maintain and strengthen relationships with senior sector leaders at Woolpert and across other organizations to facilitate operational success.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with 12+ years of industry experience.
  • Extensive experience in operations management, with demonstrated success in driving project delivery and improving operational metrics.
  • Business development experience, with strong relationships in the transportation and water resources industry, particularly with city and county clients.
  • Proven ability to balance operational responsibilities with business development efforts, managing a pipeline of opportunities while delivering results.
  • Well-networked and trusted in the infrastructure sector.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as needed.
