JOB SUMMARY: As the Gang Saw Operator position, you'll be responsible for loading, setting up, operating, and unloading granite blocks to be cut into granite slabs by the automated multi-wire gang saws. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: Using an overhead crane to position blocks on the saw cart Determining the correct number of wires to obtain the optimal yield and maintain safe rough back sizes Programing saws to cut blocks according to stone tolerances and production ticket specifications Logging square footage of wire used for each cut per department procedures Tracking wire footage of every wire crimp per department procedures Unloading roughbacks with an overhead crane Bundling slabs and loading them onto A-frames with an overhead crane Unloading delivery trucks and scanning inventory of granite blocks into JDE Logging inventory of new wires received, verifying they are the correct length and that a wire number has been assigned to each wire Operating a forklift to move blocks and slabs as needed SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE Understand general and job-specific stone colors, characteristics, quality and appearance criteria to meet job requirements. General computer skills. Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another, to avoid interruptions in production.
