Title:Coordinator of Student Support and Case Management Division: Student Affairs Department: Dean of Students FLSA Status:Exempt Salary Range:$50,000 - $51,000/Annual Salary EEO Job Group:2 E2 Position Summary The University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications forCoordinator of Student Support and Case Management. The Coordinator of Student Support & Case Management works with complex student situations that have impacted the student's ability to successfully function in the University community, or in which the student has been disruptive to the community and requires significant behavioral changes to remain in or return to the University. This position is highly collaborative and plays an active role in non-clinical student case management by developing and implementing both long and short-term response plans.
Areas of concern include, but are not limited to; transition, physical and mental health, student safety, personal crisis, and integration into campus life. The Coordinator does not provide therapy; rather, the Coordinator will help facilitate a student's access to, and appropriate utilization of, University and/or community services while coaching students toward appropriate self-care, self-management, and self-advocacy. This position reports directly to the Dean of Students and works collaboratively with members of various Student Affairs and academic offices, the CARE Team, and other on- and off-campus colleagues and partners. Duties/Responsibilities Management and Administration:
- Attend CARE Team meetings, prepare CARE tag report, provide overview of student case, and serve as a recorder.
- To ensure continuity of care, coordinate and track referrals to internal units such as Academic Advising Centers, Academic Skills, Career Counseling, Student Support Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, USI Deaconess Clinic, Housing and Residence Life, Student Conduct and Community Standards, Financial CARE Team, Financial Aid, Registrar, Disability Resources, Institutional Equity office, Athletics, Public Safety, etc.
- Coordinate student transitions from USI services to external, community providers (e.g. psychiatric/psychological treatment services, alcohol and drug treatment services, etc.)
- Maintain a system of follow up for students who have been referred to campus or community resources, including providing services to encourage compliance with recommendations and care plans.
- Maintain accurate case management records in Maxient.
- Work collaboratively as a Maxient data base manager/user to develop forms, memos and other communications and reports as it relates to tracking CARE reports and cases.
- Input, maintain, and update information regarding cases and inquiries in respective databases.
- Conduct regular follow-up with students.
- Serve as the primary institutional contact for absence notifications to faculty for students experiencing extended absences due to illness, hospitalization, or loss.
- Coordinate any tracking or tracing during a pandemic or endemic as determined by departmental or university protocols.
- Document pertinent information in a database, and conduct data entry into systems while adhering to protocols for completeness and timeliness.
- Collaborate and coordinate with a team of professionals and case managers to efficiently complete contact notification and monitoring of assigned contacts. Inform the team (when applicable) and supervisor when attempts to communicate with a contact are unsuccessful.
Assessment and Outreach:
- Develop and implement methods to evaluate the effective/success of the program.
- Collaborate with Dean of Students to track and record measures of student success (e.g. retention, progression, graduation rates).
- Assist with the development of outreach efforts to expand awareness for the CARE Team, as well as outreach directed toward encouraging appropriate, positive student behavior.
- Serve on University-wide and Student Affairs committees and task forces, as needed.
- Work closely with Institutional Equity to assist a students with understanding and navigating any investigation process and subsequent Student Conduct process. Assistance with requests for interim measures and support through the Title IX Coordinator, attend meetings and hearings as support to the student if requested.
- Serve as a designated employee and Campus Security Authority of the University, who has responsibility to notify proper authorities when an incident of sexual misconduct or other crime is reported. Disclose status and responsibilities to students meeting with the Coordinator.
- Once trained serve as a hearing officer for student conduct cases as needed.
- Serve as an investigator when needed to look into any student activities as directed by the Dean of Students.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in communication, psychology, social work, applied behavioral science, or related field with three years of professional work experience, OR Master's degree in communication, psychology, social work, applied behavioral science or related field.
- Experience working with or supporting people in high need, who are emotional, or experiencing crisis.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population of students, staff, faculty, administrators, and other members of the community.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Prior work experience in a university setting.
- Familiarity with referral processes and typical campus resources.
- Experience providing consultation to university faculty, staff, and administration.
- Experience working with a student conduct database software, such as Maxient.
- Experience managing confidential and sensitive information.
- Working Knowledge of college developmental and mental health issues including dual diagnoses.
- Demonstrated skills in any number of crisis support areas, such as but not limited to; suicide prevention and interventional work, sexual assault survivor support work, or crime victim advocacy.
- Current knowledge and experience applying best practices and appropriate legal/procedural regulations related to addressing students of concern.
- Proven ability in assisting people in unbiased reflection on behavior, decision-making, and community membership.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations.
Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements
- Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
- Must be able to work irregular or extended hours, nights and weekends included, as needed.
