JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and focused Financial Analyst I to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excel at problem-solving, and demonstrate a commitment to teamwork. This role requires proficiency in Excel (pivot tables are a must) and a thorough approach to financial analysis, reporting, and compliance with organizational policies. A willingness to learn and proactively seek opportunities to improve processes for greater efficiency is a plus. While candidates must have a strong foundation in Excel, we provide comprehensive training to ensure success in other areas of the role and to support professional growth.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required

• Education
  Bachelor's Degree In finance, accounting, or other related field

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct monthly Profit and Loss (P&L) analysis and provide detailed explanations of variances.
• Compile, review, and distribute financial reports with a focus on accuracy and clarity.
• Review expense reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with policies.
• Maintain a deep understanding of UT policies and rules, ensuring adherence in all financial activities.
• Verify chart of accounts for reports submitted in the system and ensure accurate coding.
• Identify and resolve financial errors, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and monitor expenditures for alignment with projections.
• Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice payment, tracking, and follow-ups to ensure timely resolution.
• Follow up with vendors regarding supplies and invoices to ensure accurate and timely processing.
• Perform detailed data analysis to support decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and provide analysis and support as needed.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES

• Completes monthly financial management reports and reviews all reports for errors and inconsistencies; analyzes variations in forecasts and actual performance; determines reasons for variance; develops recommendations for improvement; completes written summaries of financial data.
• Assists with preparing monthly financial reports, schedules for annual financial reports, and reports to various government agencies, ensuring conformance of such reports with applicable procedures and regulations of University of Texas System and Federal and State agencies concerned.
• Identifies areas of poor performance, presents findings, and makes recommendations to upper management.
• Prepares financial models and conducts financial analyses.
• May assists in maintaining controls for policies and procedures for financial system; develops and maintains delegation of authority of various procedures, such as check requests, refunds, invoice approval, bad debt write-offs, etc.
• Assists with special projects as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
