Camp Pendleton, CA

Summary:

ATS is seeking skilled and detail-oriented Vehicle Maintenance Instructors to support the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) New Equipment Training Team (NETT) under the Program Manager Advanced Amphibious Assault (PM AAA). This role is critical to delivering field-level maintenance instruction to Marines operating and maintaining the ACV Family of Vehicles (FoV) across operational environments.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide hands-on instruction and technical guidance on:

    • ACV system/subsystem operation
    • Execution of diagnostic procedures and interpretation of results
    • Removal and installation of major components and Line Replaceable Units (LRUs)
    • Troubleshooting, fault isolation, and repair of malfunctions
    • Performance of routine field-level preventative maintenance


  • Conduct instruction in accordance with official technical manuals, references, and approved programs of instruction.
  • Update and maintain assigned course periods, lesson plans, student materials, and evaluation tools.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training material and provide input for continuous improvement.
  • Deliver instruction aligned with incident events and real-world scenarios related to ACV FoV maintenance.
  • Support and adhere to safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOP), and Marine Corps standards in all training activities.


Basic Qualifications:



  • U.S. Citizen with an active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience instructing military service members in field-level vehicle maintenance.
  • Completion of the Marine Corps Instructor Development Course (IDC) or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and teach from complex technical documentation and maintenance manuals.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools, power tools, hand tools, and electronic troubleshooting equipment.
  • Must be physically capable of performing all required maintenance tasks while wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including lifting, crawling, and working in confined spaces.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Prior experience operating or maintaining Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACV) or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with ACV maintenance technical manuals and operational safety protocols.
  • Experience conducting maintenance instruction in both classroom and field settings.
  • Knowledge of AATOPS standards and USMC equipment fielding procedures.
  • Prior military experience within the Stryker Combat Vehicle community as a maintainer.

Working Environment:

The usual daily work conditions will be in an office environment located at Camp Pendleton CA. The job requires occasional lifting of computer and other equipment, generally not in excess of 50 lbs., usually in connection with equipment transport to off-site locations for exercise events. This job also requires field time where the instructor will be required to supervise students from the Vehicle Commanders Station of an ACV during field exercises in the land and on water. The Instructor will be required to wear all PPE for extended periods of time when in the field. The exercise support staff typically travels with a high degree of frequency. Travel to training exercise locations regularly includes CONUS, its territories, with occasional international travel. Exercise duty may include extended work periods beyond 12 hours; air travel in excess of 18 hours on a single aircraft; outdoor working conditions; and driving for extended periods to work sites.
