Position Summary:
A full-time research position is available in the Vascular Biology Program. The candidate will carry out independent bench research in close partnership with postdoctoral fellows and the PI. The candidate will be using a combination of molecular-biology techniques to better understand how to treat blinding eye disease, endometriosis, and cancer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Molecular and Cellular Techniques: Performs Western blot, electrophoresis, staining, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, DNA isolation, qPCR, and related lab methods.
  • Cell and Animal Work: Cultures primary and immortalized cells; handles tailing, breeding, and genotyping of knock-out mice; induces endometriosis and evaluates therapeutics in mice.
  • Lab Operations and Maintenance: Manages supply inventory, orders materials, maintains cleanliness and organization, and ensures equipment is in working condition.
  • Experimental Support: Troubleshoots procedures, prepares media and reagents, maintains accurate records of methodologies and results.
  • Compliance and Safety: Follows safety protocols and regulations, attends safety courses, and handles hazardous materials appropriately.
  • Professional Development and Collaboration: Conducts literature reviews, suggests new techniques, attends training and conferences, and collaborates across teams.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in STEM with a focus in Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or related discipline.

Experience:

  • Laboratory experience in several of the above techniques is required, with experience outside of laboratory classwork (i.e., in a working laboratory) preferred.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.
  • A minimum commitment of two years is preferred.
