Summary

As a key member of the Project Management Team within Carolina Cat Power Systems, you will be the force multiplier for the Division as you collaborate across various departments as you lead the delivery of large and complex commercial projects to customers on time, on budget, and ultimately exceed their expectations. This role requires advanced knowledge of both the Power Systems Industry and Project Management. You will build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders as you help Carolina Cat Power Systems achieve exponential growth!

Essential Functions

  • Delivery of complex commercial projects in the power industry, to include new generator and switchgear projects, existing Systems modifications and upgrades, service and rental projects, and other advanced electrical projects as required.
  • Responsible and accountable for delivering projects on-time, on budget, and exceeding customer expectations by meeting functional and quality specifications.
  • Adept at managing competing priorities within a large portfolio of projects.
  • Plans, manages, and coordinates throughout the entire lifecycle of Power System's commercial projects to include:
    • Project intake, develop project schedules, and construct project budgets;
    • Review equipment specifications, develop requirements, and process submittals;
    • Project delivery, start up, commissioning, and close out.
  • Implements an established project plan and monitors delivery and budget against this plan.
  • Identifies and resolves obstacles to individuals portfolio of projects and proactivity mitigates risk to achieve measures of on time and on budget.
  • Forecasts, manages, and reports on project financials planned vs actual project schedule. Can demonstrate an advanced understanding of revenue models and cost to completion projections.
  • Conducts project meetings and prepares regular reports to communicate the status of the project.
  • Updates customers and provides regular status reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years' experience (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred) OR High School Diploma with 12+ years' experience.
  • 5+ years' experience or the equivalent in project management, purchasing and/or customer service, preferably in the power systems industry.
  • Project Management Certifications a plus: CAPM, PMP, CACM/CCM.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time with ability to demonstrate strong KPIs.
  • Strong operational discipline working within a standard Project Management tool set
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Generators across a wide range of sizes and applications;
      • 50 - 1500kW diesel fuel, natural gas, methane, etc. Standby, continuous and CHP projects.
    • Fuel systems, ventilation systems and electrical systems that are utilized in power generation applications;
    • Automatic Transfer Switches, Paralleling Switchgear and multiple Generator Sets operating in parallel.

Computer Skills

  • Advanced computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office software, as Word and Excel, data base systems and the ability to operate CAT PC and Main Frame Programs.
  • Auto CAD, Scheduling Software, Adobe Professional and Salesforce.

Language Skills

Must be able to communicate with internal and external customers. Must be able to communicate in a calm, professional manner to create a problem-solving process and an environment to clarify and solve problems.

Mathematical Skills

Mathematical methods and techniques used in Engineering

Reasoning Ability

Must be able to understand how and why power generation systems operate as a complete system. Use this ability to orchestrate a project and present a complete working system to the customer.

The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in some work environments is occasionally loud.
