Reporting directly to the SVP, Fireplace Business Unit, the Director, Finance is responsible for supporting profitable growth initiatives by providing strategic financial guidance and oversight to the Hearth & Home Technologies Fireplace business unit leadership team through effective expense management, identification, and realization of revenue and profit growth opportunities. This role partners closely with and provides direct financial support to the SVP and business unit leadership team across all functions of the business (sales, marketing, product, and manufacturing).

What you will do:

  • Provide financial guidance and support to the Fireplace business unit leaders across sales, marketing, product, and manufacturing on spend management.
  • Partner closely with business unit / functional leaders and managers to lead strategy, planning & execution. Collaborate and provide guidance/insight into business cases that support key business initiatives.
  • Provides leadership and direction to manufacturing leaders and site controllers on operating results and trends of the business.
  • Accountable for material, labor, overhead, and freight spend processes and identifying facilities cost reduction and profit improvement opportunities.
  • Responsible for business unit budgeting, inventory, and fixed asset management.
  • Lead raw and finished good inventory auditing processes.
  • Conduct data analysis, planning, strategizing, and advising to senior management.
  • Sales Growth: Provide financial support to all strategic initiatives. Support all strategic growth initiatives as necessary.
  • Profit Growth:Provide financial analysis that will drive profit improvement. Provide financial support on overall spending levels (cost management). Effectively analyze and communicate results.
  • Oversee and execute sales compensation process.
  • Partner with senior finance team and leadership team to develop and implement strategies to drive operating expense efficiencies.
  • Oversee for the business unit pricing strategy.
  • Assist in the annual and quarterly budget process to build realistic and fully-explainable budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide support for monthly close process.
  • Directly supervise a team; effectively support and promote the development staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all Sarbanes-Oxley documentation.
  • P&L shared ownership.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10 or more years of financial experience including accounting principles and standards and financial reporting & analysis
  • 5 or more years of management experience with strong leadership, coaching, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Proven financial leadership experience in manufacturing
  • Thorough knowledge of budgeting and forecasting
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, influence and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical aptitude and critical thinking skills with demonstrated results driving critical strategies forward
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage project deadlines and competing priorities effectively
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to direct, influence and coach a team of partners, peers, and direct reports
