Seagate, a leader in Storage Technology, is looking to hire an Electrical Hardware/Software Design Engineer to join our Shakopee, Minnesota Design Center within the Electrical Hardware Engineering Organization. The Electrical Hardware Engineering Organization in Shakopee is dedicated to meeting the requirements of our customers for Seagate HDD products. Our Shakopee facility serves as the base of operations for hard drive product development. The Electrical Hardware Engineering team is focused on delivering electronics solutions encompassing printed circuit board design, critical circuit design and analysis, product integration support, technical report writing and presentation.

About the role - you will:

  • Work with a team of experienced engineers to design product PCBA's and perform test and analysis to ensure design requirements are met
  • Perform and/or guide electrical CAD layout including the creation of guidelines and rules to ensure robust signal and power integrity
  • Utilize signal and power integrity simulation software
  • Participate in and facilitate design reviews
  • Create detailed documentation including lab reports, compliance reports, schematics, drawings, Bill of Materials, etc.
  • Use high-speed interface analysis techniques utilizing state of the art measurement equipment including oscilloscopes, network analyzers, bit-error rate testers, arbitrary waveform generators, TDR's (Time Domain Reflectometer), spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Assist with industry standard compliance measurement on high-speed digital interfaces
  • Develop new and convert legacy software and test equipment scripts using Python

Your experience includes:

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Ability to interpret component specifications, schematics, and PCB drawings
  • Willingness or experience using measurement equipment, oscilloscopes, TDR, VNA, etc
  • Experience with surface mount soldering
  • Familiarity with ECAD tools, preferably Siemens-Mentor Graphics Xpedition
  • Familiar with MS Office
  • Understanding of Electrical Engineering design principles
  • Experience with various programming languages including Python, C++, Visual Basic 6 or VB.Net
  • Highly desirable to have familiarity with MS Visual Basic, Excel, testing/data acquisition software Diadem and LabView from National Instruments.
  • Python GUI Development Knowledge is a plus.
  • Familiarity with printed circuit board design techniques including transmission line theory, RF electrical concepts, power distribution network design, electrical CAD and analysis tools (such as Ansys SiWave, Ansys HFSS, MatLab, HSpice, Mentor Graphics) is a plus

The estimated base salary range for this position is $63,835.00 - $106,690.00. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
