**This is a 3-month contract position**

Raytheon is looking for a qualified Guide, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) Software Verification and Validation Systems Engineer to support GN&C at NASA's Marshal Space Flight System.

 

  Responsibilities:

  • Providing GN&C Software debugging support and executing software code unit tests to identify software coding errors
  • Working with GN&C analyst engineers to enforce human-rated software coding standards and correcting any software coding issues/errors
  • Developing and maintaining thorough knowledge and understanding of GN&C system products and requirements, as well as the relationships and working protocols with the different Integrated Design Teams (IDTs) and working groups
  • Identifying and communicating any conflicts or issues between the GN&C's interface to Element, Flight Software (FSW), Mission and Fault Management (M&FM), Software Integration Lab (SIL), and Ground System Development Office (GSDO) testing, including: schedule, requirements, priorities, and approaches to testing and verification
  • Working with GN&C product leads and representatives of the flight and ground crews to gather, communicate, and track GN&C telemetry data needs
  • Assisting in definition and prioritization of downlinked data parameters, and advocating GN&C discipline data needs to the Vehicle Management Operational Flight Instrumentation/Developmental Flight Information task team representative at each GN&C model update
  • Supporting the GN&C Verification plan and activities that comprise the GN&C model verification activities, SIL test cases, and execution planning, development, and maintenance of Operations and Maintenance Requirements and Specifications (OMRS), and the successful closure of GN&C Vehicle Management requirements
  • Remaining cognizant of participating organizations, facilities, and scheduling of activities
  • Providing assistance to hardware and software integration and test engineers to determine required testing to demonstrate or verify requirements compliance, and to evaluate the success of the test from a GN&C perspective

Education:

  • Doctorate's in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related study with 4+ years of experience preferred
  • Master's in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related study with 6+ years of experience, or
  • Bachelor's Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related study with 10+ years of experience

Requirements:

  • Experience in ground and flight hardware and software life-cycle environments is required
  • Experience and expertise in systems engineering and test support is required
  • Knowledgeable of systems engineering processes and activities used to transform functional, performance, interface, and other requirements into a coherent description of system functions, verification and validation, compliance, and test is required
  • Ability to read and write code in C/C++ is strongly desired
  • Experience encoding algorithms into a usable input to a software group is preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of Flight Software Requirements and Testing and Human Rating Standards (NPR 7150), and manned flight software knowledge is desired
  • Fundamental knowledge of GN&C requirements, capabilities, and constraints is required
  • The ideal candidate will have engineering knowledge of NASA space craft and launch vehicle systems
  • Applying knowledge and experience to timely completion of excellent products and services is required
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and independent problem-solving are required
  • Working independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%)
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
  • Providing clear, concise, accurate, and timely communication-both verbally and in writing
  • Interacting professionally with co-workers, management, and clients
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must possess Active Security Clearance
