GLOBALFOUNDRIES is seeking energetic and motivated Senior Systems Engineers

 

Specific Responsibilities:

Seeking an energetic and motivated Storage and Linux System Administrator supporting the operations of a multi-site engineering environment.  Primary responsibilities include installing, configuring, securing, and maintaining the operating environment for the engineering compute clusters and also providing the support for network attached storage.  Secondary duties include direct user support, troubleshooting, tuning system performance and maintaining system documentation. The successful candidate would interact with engineering users and business units, network and security administrators, first level help-desk and hardware and software vendors.

 

Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates ideally will have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and 4 years of   experience in Linux Systems Administration, ideally in an engineering environment
  • Experience providing NAS support and performance troubleshooting
  • Understanding of fundamental networking and distributed computing environment concepts, Linux desktop systems, performance tuning and capacity planning of servers (hardware and software levels)
  • Ability to write or enhance Perl, Shell, TCL scripts
  • Experience using LDAP and Active Directory for cross platform management
  • Understanding of basic semiconductor environment
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating as part of a global team
  • Project management skills
  • Desire to interact with user communities and technical customers and to operate a stable system environment enabling business customers to succeed
  • Desire to identify improvement options to continuously strengthen operational efficiency
  • Physical ability to assist in data center equipment installations

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience or certification in at least three of the following areas:

 

  • RHCSA or RHCE certification for at least RHEL6
  • Administration of NetApp in Cluster Mode
  • Support of EDA tools and environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a job management system such as IBM/Platform LSF or OpenLava
  • Ability to develop complex scripts in Perl, Ruby, TCL or similar scripting language
  • Experience deploying open source software
